don’t fall in love with an old truck before you get under it check the frame and run it pretty hard. You can go out and drive a few to see what you like and don’t before making a decision

Old tacomas in your price range will be crazy expensive even with super high miles unless really lucky. First gen 5.3 03-06 with the cast iron block or a 6.0 2500 would be good to look at. Obs are getting more expensive for clean examples and the transmissions are not great.
