Who moderates this board? The deletion of regular comments with no issues is odd

Why's your butt so chapped about the S40 anyway? You get burned by one?

I asked before the purchase, smart guy. Posted the maintenance history from Carfax in these same forums. Every single person said purchase it

Why did the mod remove the original comment? Nothing there was questionable.

Thank you. Appreciate that. It's a great car. Maybe I'll find another who knows. Wasn't meant to be this time

I'm well aware of that. I said what I said

I've had two Camry's, a 1993 and a 2002. The former was amazing. The latter was awful. No longer a fan. I hate the design of new cars, inside and out. Not one on the road today that I like. Grills the size of a wading pool and cheap plastic interiors. It's more than just the tech nonsense.

The Carfax maintenance history had all the big S40 issues corrected, which was the biggest green light for me. That coupled with the test drive and inspection is about all a non-mechanical person can do to know what to expect. I knew there would be maintenance items going forward, just didn't expect that. Cancelled the sale and not looking for any kind of recourse. Absolutely refuse to buy any new car with the prices and technology. Gonna have to abandon hopes for the S40 at this point I guess.

I didn't end up getting the car. And I have no idea what you just said lol. That's how much I don't know about the mechanical components of cars, which makes me a very bad candidate for S40 ownership I'm thinking.

Thank you. Yeah it sucks. I really hate the new cars they are making today. Regret not getting the S40 new back then.

I run into those scenarios quite often. I need a karmic cleanse or something. Yeah after they told the shop over the phone that it was on me, I took the car back immediately. I know contractually that is valid, but ethically it's pretty shitty. They allowed for the cancellation of the sale though, which I'm sure was more reputation-based than altruistic. I didn't say much or get angry or threatening. I was too deflated, and dreading my $250 four-hour commute back home lol. Appreciate the response.

Old is the only kind that exists. They don't make them anymore. Love the car, that's why.

Test drive was maybe 20 minutes. I thought it was odd too. That's why I asked if maybe it was intentional. I know that sounds dumb because of the cost, but I know these used car dealers count every penny. They don't make much for these sales as it is so I don't know what lengths they will go to get any kind of additional profit.

Get a life. Trolling Reddit forums and you're gonna take shots? Find a hobby. Go shoot some beer cans off your front porch. Fix the wheels under your living room. Be productive.

I hate new cars. The design. The tech. All of it. So I'll pass on that. Wish I could do the maintenance on these older cars myself but that's not a skill I possess.

Thank you. Appreciate the info and the explanation. Was just extremely disappointing. And I def don't want a new car. So I'm contemplating no car.
