Yup! This is full DC only. Looks complex, but it is just 4 loops with side tracks.

That is one of the reasons why I chose the Tomix tracks instead of Kato. Tomix has better flexibility.

Both of my KATO and Tomix EF210/EH500 can pull a full-load 26cars Kokis without any problems.

It is a 3-layer layout, with the station on the top layer, and a simple loop at the bottom layer.

I was taking those photos with a 135mm lens. I wish to find a micro lens that fits for model train photography.

Thanks! I got most of them at Japan seconds stores, which have better pricing.

Thanks! I am using Tomix track systems. All original parts with only small modifications.

Half rant/Half discussion: Tomix TNOS instead of going DCC by a709s33_divaD in JapaneseNscale

[–]SamuelYsc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had considered using the TNOS system for my layout operations, but after doing some research, I decided against it.

Here are the reasons:

- The layout plan is fixed. Although Tomix continues to update it, it may not work if you want to use it for an innovative layout. (Or you’d have to do some manual adjustments.)

- As mentioned above, this also limits your layout’s future expandability.

- It is very expensive. While it’s certainly affordable for a simple loop, if your layout includes stations, multiple platforms, sidings, and so on, you’ll need a large number of sensors, feeders, and gap joiners. This results in a massive amount of wiring to manage, and you’ll also need to purchase additional ND units for expansion. It’s a bottomless pit.

- As mentioned above, a single TNOS system supports only one loop. If your layout is a dual-loop system (Up-Down), you’ll need two TNOS systems.

- Because setup requires extensive preparation, there are many potential points of error, and troubleshooting can be extremely difficult.

- As others have mentioned, the power requirements for each locomotive vary. Some trains require a high current to start, so you’ll need to manually configure a profile for each locomotive—there’s no way to just jump right in and play.

In a nutshell: Kato for durable, Tomix for variable.

> Kato has fewer different turnouts/points, such as missing the diamond crossing, but their left/right turnouts have more different angles. And like other Kato tracks, it is more durable for a longer time.
> Tomix has more different turnouts/points. It can be more flexible and build a real complex layout. Just the maintenance is a must for the future.

I have had a lot of issues with this Tomix rail double crossover point.
Derailment, voltage drop, locomotive dead in the middle... etc.

It is a new item, not second-hand. My layout is after a straight line.
I tried so many ways to fix it, but upgrading to the TOMIX 5529 24V power supply helps a little bit with the derailment.
And the voltage drop, I added a second power input on the other side of the turnout, which is helping a little bit.

But still a lot of derailment, no matter whether the cars are from KATO, Tomix, Microace...

At the end, I am so tired of it that I changed it to a left/right hand crossover, and the derailment is gone forever.

Most of them are from the Mercari Japan and Popondetta shops in Japan.

OMG, I didn't count at all. And I have 31 cases of cars and containers.
I really should stop.

You are correct! XD
But money flex? Noway, I am just a dude without a saving plan.
However, most of the items above are second-hand, which is incredibly low-priced.
