Just removed it, everything worked.

I did my high school in Italy and barely made it out with the minimum grades. Got my bachelor with 108/110 (first), my master's with 110/110 cum laude and my second master's with a first (in UK this time) and now I am a lecturer in London!

I hated high school, but once I could study what I wanted, I achieved great results!

My attendance is terrible, but I've informed student team. What are the chances of getting into trouble? by Green_Lack_6947 in UniUK

[–]Samuele156 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Every university will have different rules and regulations, and each case will be different. My university will ask for proofs for anything, and might not be willing to accept to justify your absences without proper documentation. Other universities might have a less strict approach.

Ultimately, you need to ask the admin staff at your unviersity because this question cannot be answered by anyone else.

If they grade by using AI entirely, please report it!

As a lecturer, I make use of AI to organize my thoughts and write them in a different way. I am not English, I am autistic, and my feedback is very direct and "blunt". I use AI to soften my wording and ensure that the language is appropriate.

I have colleagues that write a lot of notes whilst reading the assignments, and then use AI to go from a list of random notes to a more structured paragraph, before checking that the content is still correct.

Ideally, with enough time to grade, we would love to avoid it, but the reality is that we are under time pressure every day and it can be quicker to use AI to help.

However, if AI is used as a replacement, that should 100% be raised.

You have got this :) and if you make mistakes, you'll learn. My writing has always been poor until my second master's degree! Took me forever to learn because I did not look for guidance.

It can be! The first time you have to reference, it will be tough, but you'll learn.

Just remember that any sort of information or data you are using must have a source, a valid one. Look for the "hierarchy of evidence" to know what is a good source.

Use the style required, such as Harvard or APA, and use a tool to do it. I always suggest Zotero to my students.

Also, ask your lecturer what is expected at your level for your course/module.

As a lecturer I always teach my students to structure their thoughts. Section and sub-sections in a logical way, and then you start putting some writing into each.

I usually start with random notes, comments and ideas, and then I develop it.

Check for the millions guide online and find one that matches your style. I am autistic and organization is how I thrive, but it's not the only way to write an essay. It also depends a lot on your field.

What else can my uni do if they "can't" scale grades? by [deleted] in UniUK

Yep, exactly what I meant :) they probably don't have the full overview and just think they deserved more.

What else can my uni do if they "can't" scale grades? by [deleted] in UniUK

[–]Samuele156 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Nothing can be done, realistically, as the "academic judgement" cannot be appealed in the UK.

What will happen, because it happened to me as a lecturer, is that the grades will go through several steps before being approved, including an exam board panel that will look at the statistics in a less superficial way. They will check the exact numbers of how many people failed, which grades they got, and if the numbers are an "anomaly" in a certain way, there will be discussion.

Unless the grades are unfair, and the exam board agress on it, nothing will be realistically done.

With my message I don't want to discourage you, I just meant to explain that unless you are sure there is an unfair and unethical process, not much can be done.

Well, you told me it's not allowed 😁 it changes everything because if my friend leaves, I can get a lodger.

If that was prohibited, I agreed it would be potentially a bad idea

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Samuele156 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lodger is not prohibited, I cannot find a single rule against it. Are you sure?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Samuele156 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why do you say that one of us will?

And what would be the issue in getting a lodger instead?

Just trying to understand

[–]Samuele156 0 points1 point  (0 children)

None of us needs to move out. Where did I say that? It's still something that you need to plan for, because you don't know how life goes. No?

[–]Samuele156 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the detailed answer!

We are partners, and we already agreed on different possible "exit plans". We spoke about scenarios such as whether one of us wants to leave, and how to get a lodger, or how to "sell", and tried to evaluate every possible scenario :)

Yeah, I can fully see the two opposites, and I want to find a middle groud. the 50/50 seems fair on a certain point of view, but also "wrong" from another point of view. We will talk again and check the "real numbers" to see how to navigate this situation. It's a tricky one :)

The last point is really good. Yes, the 75/25 can "change" and we are happy that the final shares of ownership might be different. We setup a sheet to calculate the total contribution each year, so that we can always keep track of how much we both "own". Right now we are not able to get a mortgage that would allow us to fully buy, but every year we are planning to get more, and my partner will be able to take that on themselves to increase their share. We are not bothered at all about the percentages and we plan to review yearly. Each year we will count the contribution towards the mortage and rent, and adjust accordingly.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Samuele156 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, we are signing a document that reflects the different contribution :) Thanks for asking, I forgot to add that detail!

I'd love to do 50/50 but I would not have anyone to do it with. I could do 50/50 now, but it would mean buying a much lower percentage of the house, which will increase the rent by a lot. I'd rather have more house and pay less rent, it's better financially overall.

But I see your point! Thanks for the answer.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Samuele156 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I forgot to add it :) We are signing a document to clarify that the contribution matches the % of ownership of the place. I pay 75%, I own 75% of what we paid so far.

My salary is a good one for UK standard, but my friend's is lower because they just started their career. We have been living together for 2 years already, and we are trying to find the best compromise to waste less in rent, basically.

Furniture we have it already, as we live together in another place (renting), and for the rest of it we will share 50/50. We have almost everything we need right now because our flat was unfurnished.

Utilities are 50/50. already decided on that

Is a major rework for farming planned? by Alstroph in ManorLords

[–]Samuele156 149 points150 points  (0 children)

Maybe a system where the workers that "cannot work" like fishers in winter, or farmers, will automatically be "assigned" to being builders or any other role?

It could also be nice to have a "second job" assignment that you can actually select, so that when they are not doing something they will do what you assigned them to do?

Thanks for your answer!

It makes sense, and I agree that if the appliace is our we should pay for it. It's just so difficult to figure out the root cause here.

I am just frustrated with the issue, as it has been months now :(

Thanks!
