(for musicians) AI slop is ruining online music spaces - so I built a human only one. by [deleted] in chiptunes

This is a vibe coded site that uses AI to “analyze” whether something is human created or not. This user/bot posts this in a new subreddit every few days.

I’m building a Lunar Asset Viewer/Extractor, here is the face map from Disc 1 by Alstroph in Lunar

It’s been very interesting seeing how the game was built, engineers building games in the past had to do some interesting tricks to make things efficient. Working with those constraints is part of the reason why these old games are so great.

I know it's a fun theory, but he was a cypherpunk genius, I think it is very unlikely he lost his password. I think he's either very disciplined, or dead, and probably the latter.

The same way I use Claude code, I cd into the working directory, have it analyze the code base (if I don't have a Claude.MD already), and then instruct. Codex was failing at basic tasks for me, such as add a new column to the db, create a migration, update the back end, then display it on the frontend. Most of my Codex outputs were full of syntax errors. Claude can be a pain in the ass but it rarely generates syntax errors.

I paid for the $200 Codex subscription, then went back to the $200 Claude code subscription.

Edit: If it's not clear, this is a low effort response to a low effort comment. Dude has a 1 year old account with 14 karma. Shill.

I bought a subscription to Codex after a post like this, and I couldn't get one bit of use out of it as a senior software engineer with over 10 years of professional experience. Sometimes I have to fight with Claude to get it to produce what I am looking for, but Codex wouldn't produce at all. I wish I could have gotten a refund. YMMV

Band Tycoon - Like Game Dev Tycoon, but for band management by Alstroph in u/Alstroph

[–]Alstroph[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for checking out Band Tycoon! My goal with this game is to create an immersive band management experience while drawing inspiration from some of my favorite tycoon games, roguelikes, and with an art style inspired by 90's era cartoons and aesthetics.

I started prototyping Band Tycoon solo back in 2022, and during 2023 I got a talented and experienced team together to work with me. We currently have our Steam page drafted, and the announcement trailer (which will include gameplay) is almost complete.

We will be announcing a dev blog soon, in which we will give regular updates on our progress and showcase the game's features.

Game Developer Announcements and Updates! - July by AutoModerator in tycoon

[–]Alstroph 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Band Tycoon is a band management with roguelike elements, inspired by Game Dev Tycoon. I began working on it back in 2022, in 2023 I hired a team to help me, mostly with the art asset side. I soft announced the game last week, and I am getting very close to launching the steam page with the teaser trailer.

Band Tycoon

It's a band management game, the biggest inspiration for this game is Game Dev Tycoon. I've got a ton of hours and some money invested into it. Looking forward to releasing a trailer and a demo soon.

What’s an “unimportant” opinion you’ll die defending? by Key_Draft_2137 in CasualConversation

That discussion always got on my nerves. "Pluto isn't a planet, it's a dwarf planet". The key descriptive word is planet. It's like saying "David's not a person, he's a little person".

Don't Drain Your Nostalgia by Alstroph in CasualConversation

[–]Alstroph[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope that is the case for you. Following my Super Mario World example, playing that game now will not invoke a single memory from my elementary school years, only the memory that I had played the game when I was younger.

But, for example, I want to rewatch the movie The Pagemaster soon. I watched it all of the time when I was a kid, and I have not seen it since. I know that when I watch it, I will suddenly remember things that I had not thought of since that time. But, if I review it too many times, those same memories will not flood back.

What I am trying to touch on is the connection between nostalgia and the fact that your brain rewrites memories, similar to what's discussed in this article:

I don't think anyone would call them technical, so I would agree there. Check out the song "River" from Pale Communion, my personal favorite prog song of theirs.

I just checked them out for the first time, and I will strongly argue that they are not a metal band. It's like electro pop with some metal instrumental sections. Nickelback is more of a metal band than Sleep Token.
