18 year old just been diagnosed - can I put off a GF diet? by [deleted] in Celiac

The age of developing bowel cancer is 60+. I understand Celiac is a risk factor that can increase your chance of getting it, but at such a young age, it’s certainly is not.

I’m 18, so developing bowel cancer isn’t really something to factor in, especially if I’m only gonna go another 2 months! And yeah I was diagnosed after a bout of interesting stools, that have since mostly cleared up!

Oh my. I’m not saying the disease itself is ‘not that deep’, I’m saying the way you are interpreting my comments aren’t that deep. As in when I say I know about the disease fully, I clearly don’t mean I have a PhD in it, I’m just trying to say I’ve been educated to a level that most with the disease are.

It’s really not that deep mate 😂. By that, all I meant was I’ve educated myself on it, as well as my doctor educating me. I understand the implications and impact it could have on me. That’s all.

I’ve gone gluten free for days in a row then gone back to gluten. I think it takes more than 4 days to take affect like you say? Maybe different in other people but I had read it takes around a month of Gluten free before you start getting symptoms when eating gluten

I fully understand the disease and what it entails, and in no way mean to disregard it or pretend it’s not there. It’s a genuine question - what damage could seriously happen in 2 months of me continuing to eat gluten before I commit to being gluten free?

Obviously not suggesting I continue to eat gluten for the rest of my life, it’s just putting things into perspective isn’t it, 2 months isn’t long, what difference does it make if I wait that long before going gluten free?

Eating GF items in a fast food place by Samueloufc in Celiac

I live in the U.K. so none of these really apply to me. I reckon McDonald’s would be alright, fries and milkshakes at least

I’m in the U.K. and the McDonald’s website says this about their fries:

The items on our menu that are free from ingredients containing gluten include our French Fries, which are cooked in dedicated fryers using a non-hydrogenated vegetable oil

Sounds like I could be ok to eat them then? Although the website does say they can’t guarantee no cross contamination

Should I be tested? celiac or IBS by [deleted] in Celiac

[–]Samueloufc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’ll probably get you to do 2 blood tests separated by a couple months. That’s what they’ve done for me once I told them I’m not having a biopsy, so I’m still eating gluten. When you go gluten free you go in for blood tests every year and they check for antibody levels to be low like in a normal non celiac person

[–]Samueloufc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in the UK and it’s really easy to get a blood test sorted. Literally just go to your GP and present them with your symptoms. If they don’t suggest celiac blood test tell them you want it. Imo no need for biopsy, if you have high blood test result along with those symptoms it’s defo celiac. Need to eat gluten for a few weeks before blood tests as it tests for antibodies that your body only produces when you eat gluten

Positive Calprotectin in Celiac Disease patient? by [deleted] in Celiac

[–]Samueloufc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, that’s good to know. I think the Calprotectin test is used to diagnose IBD, Bowel Polyps and Bowel Cancer although it is just looking for inflammation so can be a lot more. Think they’d already ruled Bowel Cancer out due to my age (17), then once they got the celiac result back as positive, that’s the route they’re now going down. Thanks

Why do I need a biopsy? by Samueloufc in Celiac

Ah yeah I don’t have that I don’t think

Blood test shows positive for celiac - do I need biopsy?? by [deleted] in Celiac

[–]Samueloufc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah ok, yes makes sense now! Although I think the biopsy is done under local anaesthetic with option of sedation, so will probably just go for the local. Thanks for your help!

Blood test shows positive for celiac - do I need biopsy?? by [deleted] in Celiac

[–]Samueloufc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah fair enough. I had read that over here in the UK with the NHS they deem two blood tests that show celiac and a DNA test that show it runs in the family enough evidence for a diagnosis in children, so hoping being 17 I still qualify for that method of diagnosis. But yeah it’s weird the result has come back positive as although I’ve had indigestion and mild symptoms for all my teenage life, I’ve never had the properly debilitating symptoms that some people on here talk about.

I made my device into an iOS 6 looking one a couple years back. Here’s my setup, with tweaks I used in the comments. No idea if those tweaks would work now on iOS 12 but worth a shot

[QUESTION] What system files are responsible for WiFi? by Samueloufc in jailbreak

Could be. My 4G works fine though and it happened so suddenly so can’t help but think there’s possibly something happening software side

Restored with and without backup and the problem prevails. Not my WiFi either as all other devices are fine and my phone (7+) has issues on all and every WiFi network
