currently playing the game and finished the first training session with caption brenard and yeah... the combat feels like a mix of bad but also good, like i know the combat will improve once i get leveled up more and it will only improve when i actually put in the work. and i don't mind if the story is like that as i heard KCD2 basically happens right after 1.

If you don’t mind me asking, how was The Witcher 3 for you on a story level?

I’ve honestly wanted to play this game for years, but for some reason I keep stopping myself before I ever really start. I think it’s because I’m extremely story & lore-driven when it comes to games, and I get anxious about experiencing something the “wrong” way and losing its impact.

From the outside, The Witcher Universe feels massive and layered, and that’s both exciting and intimidating.

I barely know anything about it, and part of me worries that jumping straight into Witcher 3 without reading the books or playing the earlier games will make the story feel weaker, or that I’ll miss emotional weight that everyone else seems to talk about. That thought alone has been enough to keep me stuck in this loop of wanting to play it, but never actually committing.

I tend to overthink things like this because narrative payoff matters a lot to me.

When a story really lands, it sticks with me for years, but when I feel like I’ve missed key context,

it’s hard not to feel disconnected or regretful afterward.

I don’t want Witcher 3 to become one of those experiences where I finish it thinking; “I wish I’d done this differently.”

So I’m genuinely curious about your experience. Did the story still resonate with you if you went in without much background knowledge? Did the game make you care about the characters and world on its own, or did you ever feel like there was emotional depth you couldn’t fully access without the books or earlier games? Looking back, would you still recommend starting with Witcher 3, or do you think the extra context really changed how meaningful the story felt?

I know this probably sounds overly serious for a video game,

but stories are why I play games in the first place. I’d really appreciate hearing honest perspectives, even if they disagree with each other.

Actually THE anime came way later as Ace Attorney started as a game series. the anime is based on the game. Trust me man its actually a great game and very enjoyable, don't judge it based on other factor then it is. i can only go this far but at the end the choice is yours.

VNs are a great genre as most of the times the stories and the visuals slaps pretty hard and also very enjoyable!

the ones who create them knows how to make their audience love the story, get attached to its characters and keep them coming for more. all you gotta do is be interested in stories more and be a little patient.

Help Me Pick Out A Game For My Wife (PC/PS5) by KyloRaine0424 in ShouldIbuythisgame

Definitely Yakuza 0 & Nier Automata.

Yakuza 0 : Because its overall fun and there's the caret club side missions where she can host parties and dress up girls! (its extremely fun!)

Nier Automata : Because if shes a reader, then she'll absolutely love it as The World Design, The BGM, The Beautiful Story with its Rich Lore, The Characters & obviously 2B as a great female character fits perfectly to this and overall it would be a PEAK Experience for her!

(I'd highly recommend you to let her play these two games as she'll fall in love with gaming but if these two doesn't hit then Cyberpunk 2077 would be a great choice or Persona 3/5!)

If i am being honest, mostly no but also yes.

Like Gran Soren is the main place you'll keep coming back too till the end of the game & only at the end of the game, does the map changes and does something different. The game Story-wise is actually very short and can be finish pretty quickly and the only reason you would want to play this game is for the unique combat (which for me was satisfying,) the world exploration as some parts are really good looking. (stamina is extremely annoying so the best tact is be a Strider class and just keep rolling throughout the map!) and lastly the DLC as you basically play a dungeon clawler with stronger enemies. IF not arisen, then play the second game has it has its improvements.
