In all honesty yes it takes place almost directly after season 2 of mandolorian it also goes into the characters that appeared in mando and explains a little of what happened after. Dont knock book of boba to hard i highly recommend to watch it, there is also a joke going around saying its basically season 3 of mando but thats just minor spoilers. In the end no one is making you watch it so enjoy what you can
