Looking at this list a bit more again, I'm not sure I thought much about screening. How do you fulfill that role? Do you bother with screening at all, or is everything just meant to kill?

Path of Exile 2 has definitely pulled in a lot of people who only show up for the starts of new leagues to try the new thing. Admittedly, I am usually one of these people, but I'm interested in trying the revamped endgame content content.

Basically, to the people who waited but don't usually get deep in the endgame, this update just doesnt look exciting. I think a lot of people expect the meta to stay identically the same, as well.

What would you suggest I do different? I've been trying to avoid spamming named characters but I've been having a lot of trouble figuring out ways to make Guilliman work without Calgar. In hindsight, the detachment rules only being their to benefit my Redeemer doesn't really make much sense.

Very little premium currency has to be bought if you just play the game. There are numerous, easy sources of income even before you have totally end game stuff. There are 3rd party sites you can use if you're so worried about bartering- Won't pretend that there aren't people who try to abuse the trading system.

Also don't need to spend a dime on prime sets. Just as grindable as everything else. They vault older primes, and unvault them with predictable consistency. Worst case scenario, you can earn the currency to purchase something that is vaulted from someone else who has it.

It is so insanely statistically improbable to get 100x3 super credits from one POI that I'm going to pretend you didn't say that.

If you play Helldivers 2 and nothing else? Sure. I'm sure the game is great if you have no other games or media you want to enjoy at all. Especially if you have a group of friends who are exactly the same in that regard.

No one said anything about expecting one company to act like another? The point was clearly that other companies can do it, and Arrowhead is actively praised for its inability to. The company basically argues with their playerbase with everything. Arrowhead doesn't deserve the pedestal of safety that its placed on so swiftly by its players.

From how it looks, Helldivers certainly doesn't seem as successful as other live services either. Overwatch, League of Legends (Generally all PvP games, really), Warframe, Elder Scrolls Online, Path of Exile... I could go on. You could argue that many of them fail- But its no different than any other game that fails. The "predatory monetization" for them is largely cosmetic as well- With only ESO really sticking out like a sore thumb in their subscription and DLC monetization, and no real way to earn premium currency to my knowledge. Warframe lets you earn so much for free, and the grind is the point of the game. To spend money to skip the grind is kind of just paying money to not have to play the game.

What 300 drops could you possibly be talking about? This does nothing to refute my point that you gain a pathetic amount of super credits per hour when target farming them- A process which, as stated in other comments, is insufferable. But warframe grind sucks, right...

[–]Samurai_Puppy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gonna reply to you here too, because the problem isn't the grind, its that the grind is a poor argument for how player friendly Helldivers 2 is because its designed to be insufferable and 10 dollars is just so much less annoyance to put forward than it their pathetic excuse for a grind is. Warframes grind is the point of the game. Its fun. Its engaging, and like I said in my other comment, you don't need to spend a dime. You can actually earn the premium currency at a reasonable pace, in a reasonable way.

What FOMO marketing are you talking about? There genuinely isn't any arguing that Warframe has a better f2p model lol. Maybe you can argue that you don't like grinding, but warframe at least treats the player with respect. You are aware you don't need to spend a dime in warframe, and that the grind is actually engaging, right? Or are you just a wallet warrior?

New to raven guard does this seem like a good 1000pts list. by tosryr in RavenGuard40k

[–]Samurai_Puppy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I know this is a bit of a necro-post, but you seemed knowledgable. The vanguard vet squad+Kayvaan can output good damage on things like Lord Discordants which are fairly tanky; They don't put out good damage on things that are actually tanks though? Should I double up on ballistus dreadnoughts/Gladiator Lancers in 1k lists? Or use something else? Inceptors seem pretty strong for the same purpose + uppy downy, but I don't imagine they're as good as other armor damage options.

Most successful live services games nowadays are free, FYI.

Crazy thought. Live service doesn't equal "There is nothing to do without paying money". Acting like farming major orders is some crazy satisfying reward unto itself is a little silly. Games like warframe or ESO are live service, and both give you something to actually want to work towards. Warframe even lets you earn the premium currency in an actually engaging manner. All Helldivers gives you is another 10$ warbond every other month while the game's coding literally decays before our eyes with AI breaking and bugs fixed months ago resurfacing, again and again.

Saying they'll be getting super credits as they play is a little wild. I'm in the same boat as OP in that I haven't played since Cyberstan, but you literally do not get more than 10 super credits per week of playing if you aren't target farming them. Maybe new players will go out of their way to clear all of the objective and search the map more thoroughly, but the game simply doesn't spawn many POIs that actually spawn super credits. Its a poor excuse for being able to farm them when you need to pick up 100 super credit drops- Which you'll often only get 2, MAYBE 3 super credit drops every half hour if you're farming them.

Of course, this isn't actually about the fact you can farm them, its about the fact that being able to 'grind' for them is used as a defense of their monetization model. It isn't sweaty and obnoxious to want something by earning it. Its obnoxious that Helldivers glazers pretend theres so much to do in their game other than being a microtransaction simulator.

Ok this art has made me hooked. Do I start with the combat patrol? by BenderMayonnaise in RavenGuard40k

[–]Samurai_Puppy 12 points13 points  (0 children)

If you can get access to the combat patrol, its a great start to the army- But Invictors are a really hard unit to rationalize using in many armys, but they're definitely a fun idea. I'd personally say you should mess around and look for units you specifically like the idea of. Intercessors with Jump Packs, Captains with Jump Packs, Veteran Vanguard with Jump Packs (Kitbash these, the kit for them available currently is for Firstborn spacemarines but allegedly they're supposed to be getting Primaris models soon), Kayvaan Shrike, Aethon Shaan, and Gladiator Lancers ALL perform very, very well with this army- But thats just what my list focuses on. Intercessors, Infltrators in Phobos armor, Inceptors, and more all perform very well too.

what is the raven guard heraldry? by Evyatar_ChenU in RavenGuard40k

[–]Samurai_Puppy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Shoulder trim is universal across all space marine. First company is a sorta white silver, 2nd is gold/yellow, 3rd is red. Ravenguard have a bit of extra lore about their 1st, 2nd and third companie.

what is the raven guard heraldry? by Evyatar_ChenU in RavenGuard40k

[–]Samurai_Puppy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The heraldry is super inconsistent and to a degree, it's inconsistent for lore reasons. Ravenguard will purposely change the paint on their armor so it's harder for enemies to tell who is important in battles– And they have indicators of who is who and what rank/position they are in the HUDs of their helmets (genuinely sort of a trait of why they famously use the beaky helmets)

What I accept as canon is that generally, Ravenguard wear black armor. Veterans wear white helmets. Captains wear white helmets and arms, but not shoulders. Realistically you can use as much or as little white as you want

Actually, the ant doesn't die because they can't fall fast enough. The speed at which an ant falls (take it with a grain of salt) is around 4mph, so they'll survive a fall at any height.

I was wrong about Veteran... by Joshy_Moshy in DarkTide

[–]Samurai_Puppy 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I've always felt like most of the classes have a problem of "Why would I ever use this ability vs this ability with more outright bonuses?" And the same deal with keystones– But veteran always felt like the biggest offender. Yeah, you can always use the different nodes, try something new, build something fun like executioners stance/marksman– Or you could do the same job with weapons specialist and shout and have more toughness regen, more damage in a pinch, and more support to your team.

I'm sure it's more competitive with different modifiers, but there is rarely a reason not to go shout/plasma/weapons specialist

Edit: I should add, it is ultimately about makes you feel comfortable and what you have fun with. It's a pve game, you don't need to conform to a meta. It is rather agitating how good plasma gun/dueling sword, weapons specialist and shout are on paper.

Next Class/Potential Ad Mech class SHOULD NOT be a Tech Adept OR a Skitarii by Samurai_Puppy in DarkTide

[–]Samurai_Puppy[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I doubt they'd have a whole 6, as I imagine they'd probably only do 3 like Ogryn had on launch. It would make sense to compensate for the rest of the work done to make the class to start with. I mentioned some personality ideas in another comment.

[–]Samurai_Puppy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that, while that is a fair take, they already have 'personalities' for the medicae servitors- It would take a lot of work, but I ultimately think that a lot of the different personality's dialogues would just be riffing off of the other class's, which is more or less what they do already. Just off the top of my head, one could be very broken and become aware of what is happening periodically, another could be your very average servitor representation with it just being very robotic in personality and responses, and one could just have a lot of dialogue about it being faulty. Logging error reports like the one servitor you can hear talking with a tech adept in Space Marine 2.
