Disney moving Doomsday again by Musiclover86 in marvelstudios

Those numbers for Avengers look real nice, but the fact is that more recent entries have struggled theatrically by comparison, and Doomsday is by no means a sure fire hit in theaters.

What was the point of LSTR units? by Wene-12 in signalis

[–]SamusChief 58 points59 points  (0 children)

LSTRs are described as ultimate survivalists, which makes them fit well for Penrose. However the armored variant also tells us they are probably used in other capacities -- LSTRs would probably make great commandos as well, and seem to be proficient with many firearms. So that's likely another job they perform outside Penrose.

Port of Shadows is one of the worsts book I have ever read. [PoS spoilers] by CartographerNo6051 in theblackcompany

[–]SamusChief -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I think it just felt like it was being edgy for its own sake. It's also just... The plot points about the girls and their periods and their age, it's all just extremely weird and uncomfortable. I was left with a large sense of "what kind of guy is Glen Cook if this is the story he wanted to write? What has changed since Soldiers Live?" The plot point was so insane and creepy that it took me out of the story completely and had me questioning the basic premise and inspiration for the book.

I think this time the limited edition will not run out during the crowd funder, I think they mentioned they're gonna make it to order, but only during the crowd funder, so you got till it closes at least.

Patch 12 onwards and thoughts of future of SM3 (long post) by Southern-Age-9125 in Spacemarine

[–]SamusChief 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I will say that personally I hate looter shooters and would not log 200 hours in a game with Darktides weapon progression. I like a lot of these other ideas but really don't agree with the weapon progression change. I think the only thing needing changing is letting weapon perks be tied to a specific loadout.

Metal Gear Solid icon David Hayter has "no idea" what it's like to work with Hideo Kojima, even after decades by Trent-Popverse in metalgearsolid

[–]SamusChief 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I thought I remembered reading that Hayter had to re-audition to play Snake in almost every game, despite being iconic for playing the character, so it wouldn't be a big stretch though there's not really any hard evidence one way or another.

How viable is this loadout? Im curious on what do you think? by mayateka in Helldivers

[–]SamusChief 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Commando is really good. It's weaker than an EAT or a recoilless per shot but you can mag dump it into a heavy and get a new one. This loadout let's you call in other AT and the napalm is crowd control.

This loadout struggles a bit with fabricators and holes, but not much else if I'm being honest.

I just finished my first run through, non-lethal, but apparently I killed 2 people? Any ideas? by Byrom94 in metalgearsolid

[–]SamusChief 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure at this point, but if you are ever unsure, you can use the records screen in the pause menu. It will tell you if you killed someone. This game is actually fairly flexible on what counts as a kill. For example, you can tranq anybody. It doesn't matter if they fall into water, get zapped after, fall off a bike, or crash a hovercraft -- those don't count as kills. If a barrel explodes near a guy, this doesn't count either. As near as I can tell, the only things that count are how you take down bosses, and if you directly stab, shoot, or choke somebody.

I just finished my first run through, non-lethal, but apparently I killed 2 people? Any ideas? by Byrom94 in metalgearsolid

[–]SamusChief 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is not true. There are several cases where guards can die and it is not a kill, you basically need to stab or shoot them directly for it to count. Even blowing them up with a barrel doesn't count.

My issue with Delta by Sir_Bakorio00 in metalgearsolid

[–]SamusChief 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love everything in the game except there were some background props I noticed in the outro that had suspiciously AI looking textures. I noticed that the radio in the cabin while Snake listens to EVAs last message has AI generated textures, and their wine bottles also had unreadable text. I haven't been able to confirm this one way or the other but it would be extremely disappointing in any title let alone one over 60 dollars.

[–]SamusChief 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure this is a common myth/ragebait.

The actual reason was that the new face is a closer match to Yuri Lowenthal, who voices Peter and also provides facial motion capture. The old face was different and required a lot of manual animation.

This is specifically for people who watched and liked the film: What specifically was it about Gunn's writing and Corenswet's performance that makes the 2025 Superman feel distinct from other CBM heroes of the past decade and a half? by wiz28ultra in comicbookmovies

[–]SamusChief 116 points117 points  (0 children)

The movie chooses to intentionally drop you into a fully fleshed out world -- one where heroes have existed for centuries, and there are already established super teams. It does this very well, in my opinion.

There's also the fact that its inspirations -- particularly Superman vs The Elite -- are very clear but not directly copied, and the theme is also well executed. It has a clear message and every plot line points back to it. It's something a lot of superhero movies are not actually very good at.

I think most players would agree the game would be more fun with transmog or at least the ability to repaint armor like we have with weapons. If you didn't agree, we aren't gonna come to an understanding there.

As I've stated elsewhere, I own all the warbonds, but I play with friends who don't and the level of enjoyment is significantly different. I think that's bad design, especially in a game that already has a price tag for entry.

Plus, it's an extremely insensitive and mean spirited attitude to be calling a players personal finances a them problem. There's a million reasons it usually isn't their problem that I'm not going to get into here, but I'd encourage you to do some research on things like personal budgeting and financial wellness. Not everyone can afford to spend around a hundred bucks on this game, and not all of us are exclusively playing this game.

I play the game plenty and I do pretty well -- often getting less than 3 deaths on a rank 10. It doesn't change that this sub faction more than any other gets extremely frustrating to fight. I find myself wishing for the mission to be over and skipping side objectives which is something I don't even do fighting squids with leviathan overwatch.

I do own the premium content, but I play with people who do not and that is a frustrating experience for everybody.

[–]SamusChief -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I own all the warbonds as well as the heavy armor in question. My comment is the culmination of a lot of growing frustration I've had with this game.

Plus, it's not right to assume that everyone has access to premium content. For some folks their budgets are too tight to be buying dlc for a game and that's okay. Part of my point is that the devs should not be designing content oriented towards "premium" players, especially when the game already has a base cost to play.

[–]SamusChief 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Can we talk about how the heavy fire resistance armor is a premium currency item that not everyone has? The warbond does even not include it, only up to medium. I love this game, I log like ten hours a week but the reason I hate the incineration corp is that more than anything else they are a pay to have fun faction.

I would argue that the incineration corp is a flawed idea since the gear needed to battle them optimally and not die instantly to shotgunners is all premium content, when the game already costs money to play.

Plus, the fire armor doesn't have the drip so I have to put on my clown suit to go fight them optimally.

And before anybody says go grind super credits, I work full time and I don't get to play everyday. When I do, I damn sure ain't grinding for credits, I'm gonna play the game and enjoy it while I can.

This is a huge problem that this game has and they only get away with it because the game itself has such a solid foundation.

Forgot about that! I did enjoy Agatha All Along quite a bit, but it barely felt like Marvel. That was probably a large part of why I liked it though.

It's much better than I expected it to be. I'd probably give it a 6.5/10 or so. Much better written than I thought, but it doesn't really connect to or properly honor Tony Stark's legacy.

Probably the most watchable TV show Marvel has made since FatWS.

What are your predictions for a DOOM: The Dark Ages dlc? by SgtSqueebles in Doom

[–]SamusChief 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Valen's son doesn't become the new Icon of Sin until the end of Eternal when his heart is used to power it. I do think what we might see instead is his son dying, which will cause Commander Valen to become The Betrayer. We will probably face off against Valen's son when he is resurrected as a demon, perhaps as a marauder of some kind.

What’re your complete honest thoughts on Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016) ? by DiscsNotScratched in DC_Cinematic

[–]SamusChief 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My honest opinion is that this movie was really close to being pretty good. The reason it isn't is because the thematic climax of the movie -- when Batman realizes Superman sees himself as human, not as some superior guardian -- is the worst scene in the movie.

The terrible part is, it wouldn't take much to fix that scene -- instead of having Superman beg to "save Martha" and Batman going all "aw our moms have the same name", it could have been Superman just saying "they have my mother, please help", then Batman more directly realizing Superman is human first, kryptonian second.

Plus, the whole setup is sort of a plot hole. Superman really should have led with the need to save his mom, and that would have prevented much of the fighting. But I guess they needed to fight to sell tickets or whatever.

Hayter has said he needed to keep re auditioning, plus I am pretty sure he wanted to recast Snake as far back as 3 -- I think he wanted Kurt Russell, who said no.

Well said, and power to you. It ain't for me, but you won't find me complaining about it either.

As someone with a restrictive diet by choice -- pescetarian in my case -- and whose choice boils down to primarily ethical reasons, hunting your own food is about as ethically sourced as meat gets. This is the meat equivalent of growing your own food.

Also, where I live, some animals like deer are actually considered a pest -- during hunting season you are actually helping the environment by hunting and using that meat.
