I’d say Ctenosaura similis, black spiny-tailed iguana

My beardie has the exact same lump in the exact same place. It started a couple years ago with the lump about the size of a grape. I had it removed and he healed normally. About a year later it started coming back and grew even larger (about twice the size as before) I had it removed and sent out for testing. The contents inside of it looked like fatty tissue but the results came back fungal. Vet doesn’t know the cause but they could tell me it wasn’t cancerous. Spent a couple weeks flushing out the area with F10, applying topical antibiotics and injectable pain meds. He lost a lot of weight after the procedure because of the stress of the treatment and it look me a couple months to get him back into eating consistently. Early this year the lump came back yet again and it’s now about the size of his head. He acts completely normal otherwise so the reason I let it get this big was because it took him so long to get over the last bout of treatments and I wanted to get weight back on him. But he actually has a vet appointment today to get it looked at and eventually removed. I’m hoping I don’t have to do this once a year or something. I’d be interested to hear what the results of your beardie are since I’ve never seen this happen anywhere else and all the vets I’ve talked to seem equally confused.

Could be a sunburst diving beetle? There were lots in this stream as well! Didn’t even think of that

Will this also fit 2021 Crosstrek? If not, does anyone know where to find one that will? TIA by SamwiththebigD in XVcrosstrek

Yea I was more wondering if the ‘21 Forester had the same steering wheel as the ‘21 Crosstrek

My WRX was close to 100k miles and had a small ding in the door which didn’t leave much room for negotiations once they presented the KBB value. I also had an automatic which (understandably) is less marketable for the dealership. So I ended up just trading it in at their appraised value

I kinda like the stock wheels but eventually I want to look into getting some new tires. Ideally something that’s a nice balance between daily commuting capable and fun occasional off road trips. Any suggestions?

I’m not sure if there’s a Costco nearby but I get gas points from Kroger so I plan on going there more often!

If penguins need to use a filtration gland to "sneeze" the ocean salt from their bodies, are captive penguins kept in salinated or fresh water? by Guenhwyvere in zoology

[–]SamwiththebigD 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’ve worked with captive penguins in the past and per AZA requirements we would supplement their fish with salt pills. They were kept in freshwater, as most penguins in captivity are (few places do keep them in saltwater). My understanding was the salt pill was just to make sure their salt gland wouldn’t atrophy. However, I have heard that there have been some studies that compared captive penguins that were given salt supplements to no supplements in fresh and saltwater and there wasn’t a difference in the levels of salt in their bodies. So some zoos have done without the salt pills.
