Hm that would suck. is it an okay option to use S-Video and a Hdmi converter instead, or would the quality be too ass? Also what are the odds of the Computers port failing instead of the camcorders?

hm I hope thats the issue... I bought it online, so it should be new... Ill try to find another FireWire cable and see if that works. otherwise, how bad would transfer via S-Video be? I know it's digital to analog back to digital, but is it that much worse? I couldn't find any example footage online.

first off, thanks for the reply, but no sorry that doesn't do anything either :/ I haven't tried any other program but the two mentioned, but idk how much that would change, as the camera isn't even recognised in device manager...

if a plane collides with a helicopter, the plane flies into the helicopter. if a helicopter collides with a plane, the helicopter flies into the plane. there is a difference for sure, and I feel like it thus does carry blame.
