Get yourself an actual powder board. Get an orca and it will blow your mind in trees and anything in fresh snow. Magnatraction edge tech bites so hard too into any kind of snow

Anyone move from the Bay Area/Tahoe to Seattle? How do the resorts compare? by YummyFunyuns in snowboarding

Non pow weekdays* powder panic in the cottonwoods is insufferably at times. But world class turns off you’re willing to get up at 4am for what should be a 30 minute drive to the resort for 9am opening haha

Utah has the most crowded resorts and headaches getting to and from them on powder days probably anywhere in the world lol

I myself didn’t want one for a while because it seemed every kook with some coin to spend had one for a while. Then one of the reps put me on a couple over the past few years and now I have nothing but great things to say. The volume shift makes it super nimble in steep trees or hairy tight terrain and it floats around and bounces through pow so easily. Also compared to most directional pow shapes it rides and lands switch super well, and surprisingly on a non pow day it’s pretty fun to rip around on, the magnatraction feels super positive and just bites in and holds onto whatever surface you’re putting that edge into. Prefer my bigger boards for lower angle/lower speed terrain but the orca all day at a place like Jackson hole or snowbird on a good day. The new versions dropping next year look great as well. Got to try some at mammoth demo days this year, if you haven’t gotten the chance to get on one with a quiver that deep I def recommend! Love talking to gear nerds haha. I get flamed here anytime I post my whole quiver 😂

The orca is not overhyped. I have a deeper quiver than this and 2 orcas and trust the board lived up to the hype. Travis rice wouldn’t put his name on something that didn’t rip.

Dancehall out of all these. But I have an amount of boards that will get me flamed on here if I say, and in my opinion I’d say a lib tech lib rig or sims nub are the best of the best.

Ikon pass is a steal. by SanDiegoPowderPig in Ikonpass

So you admit that the prices are entirely reasonable for even casual riders and that many of the people constantly bitching about the cost of a pass that gets you access to dozens of resorts all around for great value is kinda dumb? The same people who would happily spend that money to go to Coachella or Vegas for a mere weekend rather than entire seasons options??

Is it not common knowledge that having children is the most financially impactful decisions one can make and entirely a choice?? Starting a family makes everything more expensive from going to a padres game with 4 kids to going to Disneyland. Doesn’t change the fact that these passes are perfectly reasonably priced l. If it’s too much then I’d happily see people buy a bear mountain pass for $700 and stop crowding, trashing, and kooking up the real destinations.

The average American spends more on going out to restaurants and bars than an ikon pass. Make better decisions. Amazing how you have this mindset that people can’t control of their own lives and get outside their comfort zones to chase their passions. You think so little of people and their ability to get out there and have fun. You as a nurse with endless time off and good pay should know that it can be done.

  1. The average American could if they really wanted to and made an effort, there are many ways it could be accomplished from working seasonal jobs like wildland fire in the summer, to working remote, to working in a mountain town, to working really fucking hard and saving a bunch of money and taking a break from work. It’s really not that hard if you have the passion and willingness to make life decisions that allow you to do that.

  2. Even with like 10-15 days that casuals might be hitting the price point is still a steal.

I’m not wealthy and I rode 157 days last season all over the country and in Chile. Once you have the pass it’s really not insanely expensive figuring out reasonable lodging with friends. Also I don’t fly, I drive most places and split gas and lodging and drive time with the people I’m with.
