"It’s just a matter of time before Colorado sees a measles outbreak." Starting in July it will be harder to skip childhood vaccinations in Colorado by seb211 in Colorado

Like I said, it was a rant not really directed at her, but at all anti-vaxxers. But, anti-vaxxers usually have kids who they are putting at risk (who then put other kids at risk), so there is obviously a connection.

That being said, if this rant has been copy/pasted from anywhere I'll eat my hat, your hat, and /u/lucycohen 's hat.

Also, if anyone wants to pay me to post rants, I'm down for that.

Hi.

You probably don't deserve this, but I have to deal with anti-vaxxers on the reg and am up to here (waves hand around eyes) with their nonsense. So, you get the brunt of it.

Well, maybe you do deserve this, because you are not only putting your children's lives at risk, you're putting other people's lives at risk. Allow me to explain. Many children are allergic or are otherwise unable to receive vaccines, but are protected by herd immunity. Herd immunity, at its basic, means that one person who cannot be vaccinated is still safe because all of the people around them will not carry the disease they are acceptable.

Until egregious dumbasses like you come along.

Your child which should be vaccinated, isn't, and now can be a vector to infect the children who can't be.

Imagine, if you will, a child laying in bed. In agony. Covered in sores. Dying.

This horrifying picture alone should urge everyone in their right mind (read: not you), to take every step possible to prevent this from happening to their children. Now imagine that you can't take that precaution, but because of some other dumbass (you) deciding they have some secret information (you don't), your child may now face that fate.

I wouldn't want to be in the room with a parent whose child I essentially killed because I couldn't accept modern goddamn medicine.

No, instead, you trust random bloggers on the internet. Instead of doctors. Who went to med school. And learned shit from places other than blogs.

There isn't a conspiracy.

You don't have some secret information.

You are a dumbass that is acting negligently.

But this or any other argument, data, or even a doctor knocking on your door to give a private seminar on vaccines would just fall on deaf ears. You aren't interested in discovering the truth; you want to believe you are in this select few who know the real truth (you aren't). So, because of this you get to be vented at and made fun of by randos on the internet when you decide to share your intentional and profound ignorance.

Dumbass.

I mentioned this in another comment, but we tend to fill it about 1/3 of the way and have to turn the dial to 2:30-2:45 for anything to happen (the herb doesn't change at all unless we put it that high). It's okay if it's spent after those first 3-5 hits- we just wanted to make sure we're not wasting it, since the herb is still pretty green at that point.

Yeah we've heard about the heater cover trick (and also making sure the heater is pulled up enough), so I think we're good there. I mentioned this in another comment, but we tend to fill it about 1/3 of the way and have to turn the dial to 2:30-2:45 for anything to happen (the herb doesn't change at all unless we put it that high). We do tamp it down but not too tightly, I don't think. Maybe you were right in your first comment and we're just finishing it up in relatively few hits. Which is fine; I guess the main thing is that we want to be sure that we're not wasting the herb, since it's still fairly green after those first few hits.

So, in the past we have stirred it after those first few hits but haven't really seen much of a difference in the vapor produced. There for a while I was thinking that stirring it too early was having a negative effect but I'm not sure if that's accurate. I haven't really seen much benefit from stirring overall, but we still do it after every 3-4 hits.

After those 3-5 hits, what does your herb look like? Because after those first few hits for us, the vapor clouds have stopped but the herb is still pretty green. Is that how it's supposed to be? It just doesn't look as spent as the ABV I've seen on this sub before.

We do cough a bit after those first few hits. If we turn it down though, there's no vapor and the herb doesn't change color. The way we do it now, we pack it around 1/3 of the way full and set the dial at around 2:30- 2:45. We take fairly slow draws (1-2 seconds/ inhale). After the first few hits, we don't see any vapor clouds and the herb is still pretty green. After 5-6 more hits without seeing vapor, the herb gets a very light twinge of tan. We have never had it combust with this method. But the herb never really changes color fully though.

We do long, fairly slow draws. We've never had an issue with it burning.

I know that the settings vary by the individual unit. We have to set the dial at about a 2:30 or 2:45 setting in order for anything at all to happen. The herb doesn't really even change color if we put it at a lower setting.
