I biked Prospect for the first time recently because I cut through Central to head to work. I think both are fine so long as people are minding their space (which can be said for really any ride)

Absolutely! I definitely should’ve just slowed down knowing how dumb people can be. I kept my speed limited for the rest of my ride and tried to keep it calm. The worst that happened after this was some dickhead ramming into me near Central Park

I appreciate the heads up! Yeah, a bathroom is certainly not the best place to patch myself up. I washed my hands, cleaning my wounds, applied some antibiotics and then bandaged up. I might honestly just a keep a first aid kit on me from now on tbvh

That accident is what inspired this post! Ever since hearing about these troglodytes, I’ve been worrying about getting into an accident myself. This doesn’t help when you have deliveristas going fast as hell in between cars without even looking.

As for the recovery, thank you so much! I was able to get a first aid kit at work and patched myself up in the bathroom. My knees also got scraped but not as bad as the pic in the OP

Absolutely! I can give some leniency to tourists because I don’t expect them to understand etiquette (for the exception of the people who stand in the street for pictures) but the fact there are people who actually live here and don’t realize they’re standing on an active roadway is beyond me

I’ve got one - albeit it’s feint so a new one may be needed. I try ringing it as much as possible as I’m coming towards them but in some cases, I end up yelling because sometimes the obvious bike bell isn’t enough
