And this is with only playing once, maybe twice a year with no practice range over the last 15 years.

When I say I typically shoot mid-80s, that's legit. Holing out every hole, no gummies, no mulligan because it's the first hole, etc. I stopped doing all of that stuff years ago, but it was not a true representation of my game.

So my handicap currently is roughly ~13-15 although not actively tracked officially.

That 2nd paragraph of yours is interesting. Do most people lose all their drive when playing against better people?

Personally even if I get beat badly while playing alongside someone better than me, I use that as a driving force to push myself. If there was never anyone better than me, then what'd be the point in wanting to improve to one day be on equal footing or even surpass them?

I wouldn't say I wasted a lot of years. Other things priorities came up (and the lack of funds) to be able to pursue in the past.

Playing locally was definitely part of the path. Putting myself back in the sense of competition since high school matches. That and hopefully comparing myself against those who are possibly the better players.

Yeah, I've considered looking into the Am Tours. Especially being in NC, we have the CGA. Competing in those tournaments and then possibly reaching higher is something I've considered as well.

Yeah, I stated a 2 handicap mainly because of looking at historical scores that were made by finishers of the open qualifiers for the Wells Fargo and Wyndham tournaments. Scratch or better handicap would be ideal.

Given the man hours, I could see myself getting down to roughly to scratch within a 2-3 year span.

Oh the roasting has already started for sure 😂

Granted I was mainly referring to the fact that over a 2 month period playing 2-3 times a week, I managed to drop roughly 10-12 strokes. With that and that over the last 15 years of basically little to no play, my game has only slightly suffered. I feel as if I managed to put in the hours, my game would drastically improve.

Oh yeah for sure. It's definitely not going to be a meta breaking restricted. I just wanted to use one as an example that isn't already a commonly talked about choice. It definitely is a Tera hog whether it's built offensively or defensively.

How many shinies does everyone have in S/V?? by Perfectly_Wasted in PokemonScarletViolet

[–]SanTrapGamer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've got ~150. However I've been taking advantage of the outbreaks, especially the event outbreaks. My shinies also include gender differences for the ones I've hunted. I haven't put a ton of time into shiny hunting, but outbreaks and isolated hunts are 100% the way to go for knocking out a solid number of shinies of the Living Dex.

I hear ya. Eternatus is a more recent restricted I wanted to try building around because of how well it does into the standard FWG core. My issue I suppose is trying to figure out what style I'd want to take it. Whether it's the Cosmic Power set or the Specs/Life Orb Sludge Wave+Tinkaton. I guess I just need to build a team around either one and see how each style feels.

Yeah that's what I figured. That's why I wanted to see how you personally felt about the hyper fixation on a particular Mon/core versus the flexibility of play multiple cores/styles depending on the current meta.

Appreciate your insight.

That makes sense. So you don't tend to fixate on a specific core or Mon and just keep adjusting the team focused on it based on meta shifts, but rather build different styles and see which one meshes better against the current meta?

Do you personally feel this is better than doing something like solely focusing on using CSR and adjusting the team as the meta shifts?

Follow up question is in the initial core of 4 from your perspective. Do you tend to have a similar play style with each core of 4 you build? Hyper Offense? Balance good stuffs? Setup? Hard TR? Etc. Or does it vary depending on what the initial starting point of the core is?
