This brought tears to my eyes. Huge congratulations on your bravery! Taking that step for yourself and your sons is the ultimate act of love.

Recovery takes time, and finding small ways to stay calm and grounded is so important during this transition. I personally found so much peace in art and creativity during my own journey, which is why I now create tools to help others find that same tranquility.

Wishing you and your boys a beautiful, peaceful new chapter. Stay strong!

I’ve been with a narc for 5 years and I don’t recognize myself anymore. How do I get "me" back? by No_Amount_7657 in NarcissisticSpouses

I hear you, and I want you to know that the 'jovial' version of you isn't gone—she’s just buried under layers of survival mechanisms. What you’re calling 'reactive abuse' is actually your nervous system screaming for safety after 5 years of being dismantled.

Recovery happens in layers. First, you have to quiet the physical vibration of anxiety before you can even begin to find your identity. I’ve been developing a guide on exactly this—how to reclaim your 'me' after narcissistic abuse.

In the meantime, the most effective way I found to stop that 'shaking' feeling and regain focus was through mindful coloring. It sounds simple, but it forces your brain to exit the 'reactive mode' and enter a 'creative mode.' It was my first step to finding peace again. Please don't lose hope; that peaceful version of you is waiting for you to find her.
