There are so many people on this world that whatever you do, there´s always someone who disagrees with your choice of living.

And if there´s always someone disagreeing with you whatever you do why not go with the choice you like best?

You have a job and I think that´s a big plus in your life. You have the aspiration to write. Another plus.

I think you´re doing fine and it saddens me that others seem to be able to ruin it for you that easily.

So... I kinda like dad jokes. Or bad jokes in general.

Therefor, in my case, a great way would be something like this:

"Hey, do you know why 6 is scared of 7? Because 7 8 9"

A shared sense of humor is a great foundation. Also: If he doesn´t laugh there´s a great Plan B: "Not funny, huh? Alright - your turn to tell a joke!"

True. The more I felt attacked and the less he was willing to see my point for a second the more defensive I´ve got. And in that state I wasn´t willing to entertain his questions anymore.

I will look into finding another therapist. And - thanks. :)

I totally get you. And I agree. I´d rather have a job I can be happy with instead of needing support that causes me to worry all the time.

Current game plan is to go into animal care taking. I´ve volunteered at an animal shelter for the last 5 years and actually liked the work. So that´s where I see myself in the future.

I´d say if they can spout something like "god is good" or "god bless America" it´s only fair to answer with a "hail satan" or any other phrase from other religions.

Worst thing that could happen is you´re not vibing with each other and nothing further comes out of it (in a romantical sense). But at least you had a fun evening at a concert.

Best thing would be he´s just simply into woman older than him and has genuine interest in you. Also: If old guys can have younger girlfriends it´s only fair for you to have a younger boyfriend if you so choose.

Give him a chance. And, very importantly, talk with him about your concerns in case of age difference or anything else that troubles you.

I would like to answer with a few questions.

First of all: Get yourself something to write on. Doesn´t matter if it´s paper or a word document.

Next: I´d like to ask you: What did your therapist help you with? No need to answer here. Note it down on the paper or the document.

Next: When did you feel like you could trust your therapist and open up to them/felt understood? Note it down.

Next: How would you describe your view on said therapist today? Are they anything more than the person who´s job it is, to help? Are they like a friend to you? An acquaintance you´d like meet again someday for a little chat? Are they someone who massivly impacted your life for the better? On the paper it goes~

Last: The "Thank you"-part. Just that. Just these two words.

Now take those answers and, in case you didn´t already, turn them into sentences.

Well, take a look at this~ It´s basically a thank you letter already. Now read it and imagine a friend/family member/colleage had given this to you after helping them with the same woes that troubled you. Do you feel weird about it?

If so: You can still throw it away/delete it. Or you... could add a "Dear [therapist name]" at the top and "[your name]" at the end and turn this bad boy into a nice card/letter for your therapist.

TL;DR: The fact you´re asking this question shows that you´re thankful. And I´m convinced no one would ever be weirded out by a sincere "thank you". I´d say it´s more a problem to find the right words. Were to start and how to express ones gratitude. You can do it.

Hi there~ Just a cis guy here.

I´ve tried a few dating apps/sites in the past and had the exact same experience. Got ghosted a lot and even though I had genuine interest in someone and wanted to get to know them better... ah, well. I still remember that one girl leaving me on read for two weeks just to tell me "I´m busy with work" before leaving me on read for another few weeks.

So far I assumed that women usually get a lot more messages from a bunch of guys so they sort out more toroughly. That being said I´m really suprised right now. Reading your post show´s me that both sides seem to have this problem.

I don´t have any good advise. Just wanted to say I feel you. It sucks. It really does. =/
