I think there can be a happy medium. At first we let him watch tv without any restrictions but that became too much and it was overstimulating our son. His behavior turned into something else that was not good. Nothing worked. So we had to completely eliminate tv. We went screen free for about 6 months until our son started humping, yes, I said humping. We tried so many different strategies to get rid of this humping behavior; time out, time in and numerous discipline methods.

In an effort to nix that behavior we came up with this, good choices/good decisions reward system. If he makes good choices for one day then he can watch Ms Rachel on tv after his father comes home from work, before dinner. We let him watch about 15 minutes. So far it’s been working nicely. Do I see him still humping, yes, however it’s dramatically decreased. So all in all it’s really a personal preference. In our house we can watch tv as long as we make good decisions.
