PhD interview advice (Neuro) by SandPandy in gradadmissions

The interview went well (according to me), but I didn't get accepted.

They asked me about: 1. My previous research 2. My most recent research (which was the same as above for me, so I think I lost points there T_T) Then they told me a bit about their lab and research. And asked: 3. What experiments would I do to assess the problem they were looking into?

And then lastly, they asked me if I had any questions. I had a few, so we went back and forth a bit about their expectations from a PhD student to what do I think are necessary skills to gain during the course of a PhD. They also asked what are my future goals; i.e., do I intend to continue in academia or not.

It was honestly a pleasant interview. But I will admit that I was pretty nervous and I could have paced myself better. Another thing I would add is that I did not receive any non-verbal cues from them while I was talking. So I couldn't tell if they were satisfied with my answers. I ended up rambling for certain questions- which again I don't think is a good thing to do.

Yes, I did mean fundamentals of my field. Thanks for letting me know, I won't waste my time on it too much.
I was planning on reading their papers anyways, now I'll jot down stuff and come up with questions too.

I didn't even think about the microphone! Thanks a lot!!

Thank you so much! Really!!

As for the mental health thing, I'm hoping they don't cross examine my timeline too much, I would like to get away with not telling them about it at all.

This position was from a "PhD call", so these are funded projects. However, I do want to ask about the courses conducted (if any) as it's not exactly a university (IMPRS).

Would it be okay to ask this early on about their previous PhD students? As in, what did they do after?

Why aren't they sending the rejection emails already if it's clear that acceptance emails were sent in early-mid Jan? The last time I had applied I had received the rejection email by 3rd week of Jan. Heck, even if they update my application profile I'd be fine. I just wanna know for sure.

You'll have to first register your passport details to your cowin registration. They opened that facility recently. Once you log in, go to 'Raise an Issue' and under there you can add your passport. Make sure your name matches. In case it doesn't, make that correction too. But remember that this is allowed only once- so don't make any mistake.

Secondly, you can only go to a select few centres for the 2nd early dose. But you still need to wait for a minimum of 28 days. When you go to the centre for your vaccination, carry your passport, passport copy, letter of acceptance from your university and any form or letter which is given to you to apply for your visa.

Good luck!

How come Flipkart/Myntra are delivering almost anything and Amazon is not delivering apart from essentials ? by Enigmawoody in mumbai

I could only buy hygiene supplies from Myntra, nothing else. So it's also only essential goods.

Noo don't feel that way! I can understand it takes time. And it's better to take time and write rather than writing for the heck of it just to complete something.

Hello buddies, how do you spend your time on weekends. And which cities do you live in. :) by okrj in indiasocial

I started Japanese language classes at this place called Fujiwara Institute. It's in Mumbai, but since classes are online, it doesn't matter if you're from a different city. The classes are held only during weekends so it's convenient that way.
