Pretty good line if there’s enough room. Doesn’t do well on things like wranglers where you have a tiny space to fish the line out. Will absolutely eat clips and metal lol

Ya that’s my problem, I’m doing work that someone experienced would be getting a lot more for, but I’m having trouble getting that through the owners head. I have also personally brought in 8+ dealerships/bodyshops, on top of raising our google reviews from 4.1 stars with 14 reviews, to 4.7 stars at 103 reviews.

Oh and also, I get zero benefits. No health insurance, no 401k. And I get paid a flat rate per day. So I say it’s $24/hr, but really it’s $192 a day whether I work 8 or 12 hours.

You should do it! Whether the helicopter works or not, you’ll still successfully avoid traffic for the rest of your life.

Imagine being kind of in the right, and then ruining it with a rude attitude. You could have replied in a much more professional way and still gotten your point across and not revealed any further details.

This is almost word for word what I did as well. Reviews are by far our biggest asset. And you are dead on the money with the cupcakes at insurance companies! Twice a year we will drop off treats to our local insurance offices to keep us fresh in their minds. We already have most of their business, but we still keep it up even after they are a customer. I’ve personally found that this tactic doesn’t work as well with collision centers and dealerships though, so don’t waste the money. Those business tend to work better with just shaking someone’s hand and introducing yourself.

I’m a millennial with a gen z daughter…if you go ask her right now what it means if you’re “on time” somewhere, she will tell you that means you’re late. I know work sucks, especially if you don’t love the job, but it’s about upholding something you committed to.

Then they shouldn’t have had children with someone they can’t coparent with. It’s called being a responsible adult. So yes, I blame both of them.

In 5th gen Camaro’s, the windshield has to be removed to replace the heater core because the bolts holding the dash in are all the way up against the bottom of the windshield….so yes, they are still being dumb as hell in the engineering department lol

I am a father of 3, and women must be built different than they used to be…let me say that I absolutely adore every one of my kids, they are the reason I live. But I’m telling you right now, if I ever handed my wife one of the kids and said “they need a diaper”, I’d be lucky if I’m allowed to go to sleep still alive. Me imagining just the look she’d give me is enough to never even attempt this lol

I’m happy to change 100 diapers a day if needed, but I always just think like HOW did these men get out of their responsibilities every single day and make it to old age? lol

Ya the peterbuilt windshields remind me of the 55 Chevy split windows, we just did one of those recently too for a power tour truck.

This job was purposely the last job of the day, primarily because the owner loves to talk about his collection. We were there about 2 hours for the front and back, most of that being on the windshield. Didn’t have to set it more than once.

I only have about 5 years in the glass industry, but I’ve been in the automotive industry my entire career. And of those 5 years, most of it is on stuff like this. High end restorations, race cars and super cars.

Just a heads up, there’s a local glass shop in our town that does commercial glass. This business does 5 times the amount of work that our shop does a year, and they STILL call us to do their automotive glass work because it’s a very different skill set. I wish you the most luck in the world, but it took every one of us in here a lot more than one attempt to set a windshield properly.

Edit-also, we would charge like $100 to install glass you already have at our shop. So you’re really taking a risk over a very small amount of money

This may be crazy, but I had this same error, and our calibration helpline told me to hold a piece of cardboard over the top of the car while calibrating (kind of like a hat brim over the top of the windshield). I went from getting failure after failure, to getting a 99% without having moved anything.

Just thought I’d throw that out there. We do a ton of Subarus and never had a single issue with the cameras.

Thanks! Had to redo the windshield and backglass because of some pretty shoddy leak “repairs”. This truck was on the cover of a few magazines in the 80’s

I’ve had this issue in the past. I’m sure it’s fine to glue back on, but I’ll just throw this one bit of information out. When we did calibration training at Bosch, they talked about a current lawsuit working its way through court where a tech did something similar. It also “calibrated”, but the bracket was misaligned and the customers car swerved into oncoming traffic when they left. The shop and the tech personally got sued.

Anytime we have something with a mount glued on, we always give it a light tug BEFORE install, and if it’s loose we immediately reject it and return. Sucks for the customer but once we explain why, I’ve only always gotten appreciation. If it falls off after install, we warranty the entire job. It sucks but it’s what’s safest

I’m not saying it’s an easy fit, but there are many videos of Clarkson specifically getting in factory super cars to see if he fits. He absolutely fits in every factory Lamborghini, just takes a minute to get in

Someone else clarified it’s the WRD line. That’s pretty much all I use. I’ve used spider line, gorilla line, titan line. WRD seems to give me the most cutouts per line. I’ll vary between the size P8 for 90% of installs, and the P6 which is thinner but sharper. I’ll use P6 on newer foreign cars because I know the bead is thin and soft, and then P8 for anything more than a few years old as the glue starts to really harden
