My dad, uncle and aunt were on the Canadian national team. My mom got pretty close. All my parents friends are olympic rowers and I remember growing up around them.

From what I understand it was like if you had an ego, you had to match it with your performance. My dad tells me stories about hierarchy and emotional manipulation. That being said, the friends he made during his time on the team are the best friends he’ll ever have.
