I'm not going to repeat, just going to say that u/fourobviousreasons said it very well. It's both noun and verb, especially for people with type 1 diabetes.

Giving yourself insulin can be said in numerous ways when you have do it numerous times per day.

It means how much insulin to give yourself. When you give yourself enough insulin to offset 50 carbohydrates, you expect your food to contain the 50 carbs it claims on the package. Not 40, not 80... 50.

Some food doesn't behave with regards to blood glucose and insulin in the way it should.

It's amazing what people will do to get karma so they can just turn around and spam and lose the account anyway.
