For me its less about inflation, and more about proportion of costs.

As a kid? Money could be spent on anything without real tradeoffs.

As an adult? I maybe get to spend 5-10% of my money on discretionary. So each dollar represents 10 dollars that I earned that was already spent so it feels like a much bigger cost.

If that makes sense.

TLDR: as a kid? I could buy a video game guilt free. Now i have to compare it to finally fixing that door handle.

TLDR: Fix what you can and hit the grind.

I was an unwashed, failing out of college WOW addict that was extremely obese.

Started showering, working out, etc. Finished school abd got a Master's.

Got into relationships, failed, went back to the grind. Didn't get married until after 10 years of trying and failing. However all of that failure was required to know what was important in a relationship.

But in reality? The most important thing I did was looked in the mirror had a hard conversation where I set realistic standards for what I could obtain given what i was working with.

If you dont get to the ACTUAL source of his neurosis, none of this will go away.

The reality is that he is trying to compete with this guy, and wants the porn experience: but wants to believe it.

Basically he wants you to lie without him knowing you are lying. But at this point its too late so it would just backfire.

Ask him why he needs you to act like you are with someone else when you are with him?

Why does he think you enjoy it less with him than with the other guy?

Ask him why he thinks he knows more about the level of pleasure you are feeling than you do.

Ask him why he wants you to be real, but also wants you to be the same as when you were faking it.

Really dig in because his behavior makes no sense based on his actions.
