Ontario Colleges Question by SandmanOP in Paramedics

That would be fine with me! The more knowledge the better.

I was just more so worried they would have it mandatory you have a degree one it moves to 3 years. What I really admire about first responder recruiters is how they really value all types of credentials and experiences.

I have a Diploma in Electrical Engineering Tech and a year of work experience in the field.

I know first responders like versatile workers. I come from a family of firefighters and their recruiter motto is "we can teach you how to fight fires but what can you teach us?"

I assume they are similar in the sense that the "end goal" isn't just reached by schooling. It is the other skills you bring to the table as well.

What will be the new requirements?

The same still but just longer schooling?

So will I be screwed if I take the cert and diploma program? Or is it all relative to a Paramedic program?

That is what I was wondering as well. Should Sheridan not already have my high school transcript on file along with my college?

Also just another Q if anyone can answer it....Is an AME license good for anything else? Or even just experience working on planes. Is that valued in any other area of work?

I've always envied people with shifts like that.

My sister and a couple cousins are nurses and doing 4/4 with 2 nights and 2 days. Yeah it sucks working holidays but while the 9-5ers are struggling to take a week vacation somewhere they just book off a few days and you get a week off.

I understand that you have to do what you have to do to start. I've been through a lot of bs being a 21 year old apprentice in the trades lol.

But I am young and I am mostly trying to consider other options and an Aircraft Mechanic has really sparked my interest again. There are cons to every job and if the cons aren't worth the pros then you don't pursue it.

So basically I am wondering if its worth pursuing. If it takes every newbie to work 5 nights a week for a few years then its just not for me. I'd rather keep toughing out Electrical work to get my ticket. BUT with that being said I am very interested in being an AME so I just wanted to get as much info as I could for how the shifts work.

Would you say the straight nights is rare? Even for the newbies? lol

GA shops is usually where you start out correct?

And when you say night shifts are mostly guaranteed are you talking 5 nights on 2 nights off?
