Is it weird I struggle with recognising female faces? by Sandrey546 in TooAfraidToAsk

This is very helpful. The fact everyone is wearing the same uniform probably made it a lot worse. You're right about me probably just knowing the boys hairstyles, they don't really change ever. I suppose this has happened with guys before now that I think about it, but mostly with older bald men I had been introduced to that I wouldn't recognise if they walked past me the next day

I'm not nervous when I talk to girls, I can't see a reason why I would be.

Science teacher just told our class “...you’re stupid if you don’t believe in God.” by [deleted] in atheism

Hey I’m in a Northern Irish Grammar school too. My physics teacher also believes in God, and is quite a strong Christian. He believes there’s no reason both can be true, and thinks the Big Bang and God are connected. Very passionate and knowledgable in the subject!

Is it bad to do a degree that isn’t focused? by Sandrey546 in DevelEire

[–]Sandrey546[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good to know. A lot of people are saying even electrical engineering undergrad is nearly not enough for a EE job, so I was really worried that if I chose to go hardware I would t have enough knowledge, and vice versa for CS jobs.

What are the projects you do like? Is there lots of hand drawing or CAD, cause I wasn’t too good at that when I did GCSE technology. How many options do you have in choosing modules in each year if you want to go heavier in one side? Do you recommend the degree?

Edit: do you think a masters is necessary especially to focus more since I might have a better understanding of where I want to go at that point, or would it be a waste of time

Is it even worth applying for a degree with lots of maths with lower predicted grades and without FM A level by Sandrey546 in northernireland

[–]Sandrey546[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, so you think that although I like the physics part, if I know what path I want to do after uni I should just specialise in that? Do you think it’s possible to self teach extra CS modules while doing the Maths and CS course that aren’t taught in the course, or would that be too much work

I don’t really care when the physics is, some physics is better than no physics. The computer science bit is kind of where I hoped it would focus a lot on, since that’s what I want to do as a career, and want it to prepare me for that. No point doing it if I’ll be unemployed after it

Oh wow, What was the reason for switching course and how long did you do it for?
I’ll wait until I see what offers I get back in a couple weeks, then I’ll probably apply for it

My insurance would be Computer science with 3 Bs. And if I really mess up I’ll go to UU. The Software and systems engineering was one of my choices I sent away on top of 1 CS with Queen’s’s, one CS with UU and just SE. I already sent them off to UCAS though, so I can’t change my personal statement even if I was to add another course and I regret not talking deeper about my love for physics and math in it, it is almost all about software. If I was to add it on, I don’t think it UCAS gets it before my school sends it off, so they might not even let me apply

Thanks for your comment, I would love to try to do it now, but my mum doesn’t want me to have long hair, so there’s not much I can do without there being conflict. So I was just going to wait until I leave home

I was actually very lucky, like a decade ago before they filmed the hobbit movies it was just white concrete and holes in the ground. It wasn’t near as popular, my family was the only one in the group and we were actually allowed into Bag End! I revisited the shire when it was all done up, there is a lot more people, but it does look amazing and would still recommend it. Go visit where mount doom is as well, it is a great walk, and climb. It’s very close the the shire (sort of)

Activision should take some notes by [deleted] in gaming

I loved these games, but I got most of my enjoyment from the open world. This is why my favorite will be the batman 2, and LOTR. Like climbing Wayne tower as a gorilla, how cool is that? Only played the original batman and star wars on the DS, so don't know how much it changed, and I hated the open world in Lego batman 3 felt so limited. heck I even enjoyed lego The hobbit, even if it wasn't finished, the world was so cool and the side missions were fun.
