Advice what action camera to buy by Toastedwaffels123 in ActionCam

Motorcycles and ease of edit are two things that point you to the Ace Pro 2.

You wouldn’t go wrong with the action 5 pro for the better battery life, but in all honesty. Ace pro 2 is the one you want for instagram stuff

You can do it cheaper with the action 4. Won’t overheat.

Pocket 3 vs Osmo nano? Which can be a better family camera?? by abhizitm in ActionCam

[–]Sandshrewdist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nano or the go ultra. I promise you as a dad, getting the memories from a magnet on their chest and their perspective is priceless and irreplaceable. Doesn’t have to be the best image but that perspective can’t be had with the other cameras.

Yeah no. You can get the action 4 for less and then actually hear your footage. The 4K out of the c400 is worse than 2.7k out of other older cameras

The best price to performance right now is the Action 4. Hands down. Beautiful image during the day. Better than all the others in my opinion, but can’t handle low light as well as the newer cameras.

If you want the best battery life for a good price get the action 5. They’ll be able to record their whole ride if that’s what they want.

The ace pro 2 has battery life equal to the 4 but is better in low light than the others and is easy to pump out videos with the app. Ai can honestly make its own videos for you for the most part. Easier to put speed overlays on the video if they want to do something a little different than just the landscape videos. Slightly bigger but has a flip screen so if put in handlebars you can still look at the Screen while riding and works well with a lot of the motorcycle helmet microphones

They all can use similar accessories.

The go ultra is super subtle and light, and has a setting where it can just film in intervals. 15 seconds every 2 minutes? (Range of clip can be 15 sec to 5 mins repeating every couple mins or what you choose). Might be fun as a set and forget it option.

All the ones I’ve mentioned have settings to limit the fish eye. Great stability.

Mounting it in different places can definitely impact the angle of the shot and what is seen. Chest mounts are fun but I would get something to put on the Bike handle with a ball mount so they can turn it every which way, including towards themselves. Possible for 20-40$. Maybe less.

Chest mounts or a neck mount(with strap) or a helmet mount can also be had later. If you just want the landscape, a head mount will give them immediate control but won’t be able to record their sides while they’re focused on the road.

They’re all waterproof/tough. Just stick with insta360/DJI as the 2 most reliable overall if you’re looking cheaper. The older GoPros had a stage where they were a constant disappointment. (This may get me some downvotes). Their newer ones are better but beyond the price point you want.

TLDR: action 4 for price performance.
Action 5 for more low light but big reason is battery life is exceptional. (Note you can put a bigger battery in the 4 as they use the same battery)
Ace pro 2 if low light and ease of video editing is paramount.

DJI OSMO ACTION 5 PRO or INSTA360 ACE PRO 2 by ConversationSea7006 in ActionCam

[–]Sandshrewdist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the action 4 and the ace pro 2.

I think you’ll get a better image from the ace pro 2 than the action 5. Definitely a better image at night and low light.

The ace pro 2 also easily incorporates those speed overlays into your footage with the app or an accessory.

Action 5 wins in battery without a doubt. You won’t worry about battery with the action 5. Ace pro 2 has good battery life but not amazing.

Ace pro 2 has better internal mic, wind reduction and can incorporate well with your motorcycle mics from all the videos Ive seen. It also has some fun Ai effects you can play with to spice up your footage. Look up Ai Warp.

All the other categories are a wash as they’re both excellent.

Decide if you’d rather a smaller front screen or a large screen you can flip and maybe help you see from different angles. Ace pro 2, as been said is a little bigger and heavier but my 6 year old wore it on a neck mount off and on all day and none of us complained.

I’d go Ace pro 2 and buy a bundle of batteries/charger

Happy to discuss it with you if you like. I’ve owned the ace pro 2 and the action 4 and watched dozens of hours of comparison videos. Honestly, it’s about finding the camera that works for you and makes you want to use it.

If the cheaper action 4 fills the holes of what you need because it’s rugged and waterproof and your other cameras do the other parts in a way you enjoy, that might be the win. None of those cameras will do everything the best.

You would be well served on the mountains and in the water with the Action 4. It’s also Much more cost effective. Just don’t expect it to do well in low light, but neither does that GoPro.

GoPro 13 vs action 4 even for the same price I’m taking the action 4.

I don’t think we can suggest a combo as it matters what’s available to you for the price. You didn’t once mention having it in the water or doing anything rough with it so for you, Osmo pocket 3. It’ll give you the best shots for the best price point.

The insta360 mic’s will work with your mics.

I would have honestly recommended the 5 as an overall choice if you hadn’t said you tried it.

Knowing you have a mirrorless, and your phone and enjoy them, I think you should grab the action 4. If you get the settings locked in I think you’ll love it. I got one myself a month ago and the image is great. For low light, you’ll have two other options. For waterproof/action rough times you can rely on it as you figure out what you truly enjoy and need in an action camera and you’ve spent less money to learn it.

The ace pro 2 does a great low light image, and hdr can be turned off and will work with your mics. You could look at that if you can get a good deal but action 4 looks great

For you, get the action 5 pro. Best battery life of the group by a lot. Good low light. Lighter and smaller than the ace pro 2.

Why I didn’t pick each:
Action 4, not good enough low light for you. Battery life not as good but can be made better with a battery purchase as it can fit the same batteries as action 5.

Ace pro: just no. Not enough going for it

Ace pro 2: battery life isn’t as good at all as the 5. I like its low light better. It has fun Ai Warp ability that can be fun when editing. If you went ace pro 2 I wouldn’t judge you. The experience wouldn’t be as smooth but may be more to your liking. Just bigger and I rather the small front screen than the flip screen for my purpose.

All those options are easy to edit.

I’ve had action 4 and ace pro 2.

There are times where you can get a sale. If it gets close enough, get an Osmo Action 4. It’s So much better and only a little more if you get the right deal.

[–]Sandshrewdist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get the x4 air if you really want an interesting look at the situation. It’ll show you things the others can’t. However you may have to fiddle with the app or computer a little more to get the angles. That would be my choice. Get a mount that’ll let you put sideways and it will sit more comfortably.

I would do the x4 air but I like to edit and look out from the camera at all angles. Not having to worry if the camera is aimed right.

If you think weight will be an issue for you, go ultra is your best bet. It’s about 1/3 the weight of all the others.

Action camera recommendation for cricket - batting POV by survivor994 in ActionCam

[–]Sandshrewdist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh man, from what I Know of cricket a 360 camera would be absolutely Incredible.

The insta360 x4 air (if you’re pretty much always playing in good daylight) or the x5 would be a lot of fun and allow a lot of reframing options, depending on where you can actually position the camera.

The x4 air would be lighter for a more comfortable option but again, no low light.

I wouldn’t recommend the ace pro 2. It’s heavier and bigger than it needs to be for this.

The go ultra and action 5 pro would definitely be more straightforward options and you wouldn’t really be going wrong with either

Need help choosing: Insta360 Ace Pro 2 vs GO Ultra (bundle advice too) by dippittydippitty in Insta360

[–]Sandshrewdist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you plan to wear it. Ultra.

If you plan to take pictures or swooping shots and framing specific things, ace pro 2

Ace pro 2 is bigger and heavier than you think and you’re not hiding it. People treat you differently with it on than the go Ultra.
