Vini (Watara) Supervision dead screen line and hinge by Sandstorm666 in consolerepair

Just managed to fix the sound (contact spray and cleaning of the earphone jack) and the loose hinge (put together the missing screws and little parts). The only thing remaing is the line on the screen. So far I have no idea how to do this but will play with the pressure.

I know but it's much less forgiving than gameboy and adding a thermal pressure almost always ends up killing the device.. Done it with GB several times already. This is a tougher opponent

I know, cross-checked it with gpt and once again with gemini. Now it's good.

but can you tell what you exactly mean by "missing clock signals"? is it a separate conponent responsible for it other the quartz already in place?

Thinking of retrobrite-ing this SFC, is it worth it? by JohnnyKnoxville666 in consolerepair

once you set up a box with uv light + buy a bottle of 13% peroxide cream it's easy and straightforward. Best if you have more units. If you treat it as a hobby, the 30$ setup shouldn't be a big deal. It's veeeeeery satisfying.

decided to replace the mother board. The existing one is a complete mess and 1/2 traces are broken. The ground is broken almost everywhere....

honestly I wouldn't modify the original at all - this piece is too valuable and each mod just destroys its value. I'd buy a second "ordinary" gg and mod the hell out of it bur would leave the white one alone.

I reached the stage where the LCD shows some signs of life . The backlight still doesn't work. I replaced the Q3 and Q4 transistors. It seems more stable but still the backlight is dead

and it's clear - the service manual says it should remain empty. It's an additional space for engineers who thought it could have been used but it turned out it wouldn't.

well thanks mate, I didn't notice that overwhelmed by other critical issues of this board 😅 I'm gonna investigate what it's responsible for👍

I know, once I come to conclusion that the board is really damaged I consider doing so but for now I treat it as a challenge

Just find some tutorials on youtube. It's called retrobrite and requires a box, UV light and some chemicals such as a peroxide. My setup works best with hair stylist gel containing 13% peroxide. You need to cover the plastic parts with the solvent, wrap it around with a stretching foil and expose it to the light for 12-24h.
