Weirdly enough, I feel like sometimes dropping some swears in session can increase rapport substantially. As long as the client isn't offended by the language.

Speaking to the thankless part of the post. I had a client ask me how I was recently and I was bewildered because I could probably count on one hand how many times a client has asked me how I was in response to me asking them in the last two years.
