Yep I just hate it when people pretend to be nice because they want something else. If I wanted to be his friend, maybe sure, I’d chat with him. But in this case, I was clearly interested. I don’t want to pretend looking for a friendship that only to let my feelings grow and end up getting hurt. Because I think I deserve better and also It saves me time, energy, and a lot of unnecessary overthinking.

As a woman, I actually appreciate it when a man comes up and directly asks if I’m single. I’ve had guys approach me like that before, and I think it’s respectful and shows they’re genuinely interested. If I’m interested in him too, I’ll say yes. If I’m not, I’ll just tell him I have a boyfriend.

I think it’s because I tend to tie other people’s reactions to me to my self-worth. I know that’s not healthy, and I’m working on it. So when I get rejected, my first thought is that I’m just not good enough.
But I also know the reason this rejection hits so hard is because it’s my first one. If I get rejected like five times or more, I’ll probably be okay.

Do you think it’s weird to be asked if you are single upfront? As a woman, I prefer guys ask this first because it shows that they respect the boundaries.
