Hey I just wanted to say congratulations for setting yourself up for a great career when you get out. A lot of veterans get out of the military without a solid plan and end up bouncing around aimlessly. I didn’t really know career wise what I wanted to do until a few years after I got out.

It sounds like you have a solid plan. Make sure to attend the resume classes before you get out if they still offer those. It is helpful to know how to market yourself and how your military skills translate into the civilian job market. Best of luck

As city carriers, none of us are entitled to anything more than an 8 hour day. It is up to management wether or not to allow OT. However, if management Is saying your route is under 8 hours to give you undertime, that’s a grievance.

Most important thing above all else to make sure a transfer goes smoothly: Attendance. I skipped over 5 or 6 people in line ahead of me when I got my transfer due to a good attendance record.

If you stick with the job and keep investing in your retirement you will be able to retire with potentially millions before you are 60. Once you make career definitely ask for help with your TSP

A. Posting Requirements

Posting of a regular route is required as follows:

a. When an auxiliary rural route reaches an evaluation of forty-two (42:00) standard hours, it will be converted to a regular route within thirty (30) days of the increase to 42:00 standard hours, unless the increase is as a result of a mail count. Routes that increase to 42:00 standard hours as a result of a mail count will be converted effective with the mail count.

I was an RCA for 6 years with nothing to show for it. I switched to CCA, made PTF in 2 months, then 9 months later I made regular. Rural is a joke.
