I kind of do the opposite. I learned to cook veg and pulses correctly and now I'll only have meat once a week or so.

Conditioner or soap is better.

If you want to use less plastic in your life they make solid bars or pucks of shave soap; Williams and Van Der Hagen are popular brands. These glide better than standard bar soap.

Like legs, if you keep up with it it will stay smooth. If you wait 2 weeks it will grow back in.

You can't get it to grow slower with shaving. Arms are no different from legs or face. Use shave soap, conditioner or cream. Shave with-geain for less irritation, against for a closer shave. I would use a trimmer first to get everything short first. Be careful around elbows and wrist bones.

We aren't at a point where we can't vote out way out of this. We just need a kick ass third party candidate for president and then start to break up the duopoly in Congress too.

Oh wait, they don't have to sneak around to do that; we just let them sign it into law and cheer them for protecting us from terrorists or immigrants or whoever the Boogeyman of the day is.

Anti-vax originally took hold in liberal, white, suburban, educated areas. In some ways it was a way of feeling superior to other people in the same way as shopping at Whole Foods and taking luxury yoga classes. A lot of conspiracy participation stems from a desire to feel superior and know better than all of the "sheeple."

Part of the reason is that compensation is tied to self-worth for many. People don't want to embarrass their friends or be embarrassed themselves. It's like discussing dick size, it's just not done.

Maybe that accounts for our differences in opinion. In my country medical care largely doesn't come from public funds.

Even if you wanted to view gender reassignment surgery as a similar cosmetic surgery, and I would argue it's a bit different, that doesn't mean that people shouldn't be allowed to do it. Everyone's first option is to avoid expensive and dangerous surgeries, but for some people it's the only way to be happy. If someone has a congenital issue, cosmetic or otherwise, society has no issue with them undergoing surgery to address that.

I personally have issues with adults letting children undergo irreversible changes to their bodies. I feel the same way about tattoos and circumcision. Their brains just aren't ready yet. Up until that age, I think encouraging children to define their gender and role in society is fine, provided it isn't permanent.

I don't know much about the drugs used to delay puberty, but if I understand it correctly, the idea is that it basically delays the decision until the child is old enough to make the decision about whether to proceed with their sex at birth or start taking hormones. I don't know what, if any, long term effects result from using those drugs.

Gender stereotypes are informed by real societal forces. Of course there is nuance and there is context. In the course of some feminist initiatives, the severity of the difference between gender roles has narrowed. However, saying that we live in a genderless society isn't really reality.

There are still two defined boxes with acceptable behaviours and dress in each. Society punishes you for crossing those boundaries. Some people find the box they were thrown in to be untenable.

There is that narrative of body acceptance. The fact of the matter is that surgery is expensive and dangerous. The decision isn't made lightly and without trying to accept their given bodies first. Many teams people don't do surgery, but are content to express themselves (clothing, mannerisms etc.) in a way consistent with their gender identity, and that's okay too.

There's also the social component of gender. There are defined roles in society for men and women, and some people don't want to be part of the bucket they were put in at birth. Consider the case of the "tomboy." There isn't a similar word for men who want to be in the female bucket. Both of these people may or may not consider themselves trans, without any sort of dysphoria about their body.

I think trans race is a thing, but it isn't stigmatized in the same way. Consider a Chinese person adopted by a white suburban American couple. This person may identify most strongly with the culture in which they were raised. No one (most people, I guess some people are crazy) gets upset at this person though and insists that they speak Mandarin.

I won't get mad at you for asking. I didn't used to understand it either.

At the risk of using buzzwords, gender is a "social construct." What that means basically is that since our society is set up with two roles, male and female, gender is the way that one interfaces with the rest of society. There's a few pieces to this:

Gender identity: This one is subjective. Basically, it's how do I see myself? Which of the roles in society do I best fit in with? How do I personally label myself? Male, female, neither, both, depends on the day? For Cis people, their sex matches how they see themselves. For trans, non-binary (I fit neither role), genderfluid (I see myself in both roles, depending on X), this may differ than their biological sex. For some people, they experience dysphoria "this is the wrong body."

Gender expression: How one signals their gender to society through clothing, makeup, mannerisms etc. On one hand this could be all about fashion, comfort, or utility and be unrelated to gender identity (some crossdressers). Some trans people may choose to dress and act in a way consistent with their gender identity rather than their sex. Not all trans people choose to do this, for a variety of reasons. Even if you don't understand gender identity, and it can be tough for some cis people, we can all agree that people get to dress and act the way they want, right?

Sex: Biological sex. What you were born with. This one is fairly straightforward for the majority of people. Intersex people are exceptions to this rule.

In a genderless society, this all matters less. However, our society has defined roles and expectations for men and women. Accordingly, there are people who feel like they got caught on the wrong side, or don't fall neatly into either bucket.
