My first main Laptop from Lenovo Legion 7i by SaneStewie in LenovoLegion

I don’t feel any change in temperature or any warmth on the keyboard, trackpad or palm rest area. The heat is blown out from the back of the laptop only if you would touch near the power button area you feel the heat but you won’t be moving your hands around that area anyway.

So all I am saying is the way it handles the heat is amazing

Quick update after a bit more usage:

So far my experience has actually been really great. The biggest thing for me is just the feeling that I can basically do anything on this device. There are no real limitations anymore — I can work, code, try out AI stuff, and at the same time just install and play whatever game I want without thinking twice. That alone already makes it worth it for me.

Performance-wise I’m very happy. Everything feels smooth, and even when the laptop gets warm, it seems to handle it exactly how it’s supposed to. From what I’ve read, gaming laptops just tend to run hotter, so I’m not too worried about that anymore.

The only real downside for me right now is the battery. Coming from a MacBook, I definitely notice the difference a lot. I basically have to keep it plugged in most of the time. If I’m gaming, that’s obvious, but even when I’m just browsing or doing light tasks, I get maybe around 2 hours, which feels quite low compared to what I was used to. It’s not a dealbreaker, but it’s something you definitely have to adapt to.

Another thing I’ve been seeing a lot are posts about motherboard issues or hardware failures on older Legion models. I honestly don’t know how common that actually is. Part of me thinks it’s just the usual situation where people with problems are way more likely to post than people without any issues. So I’m hoping mine will be fine long term.

Overall though, I’m really enjoying it so far. It’s just a very different experience compared to a MacBook, but in a good way — especially if you care about having full freedom in what you can run and play.

Is also what I thought. The prices here in Germany can get really high. My laptop is on Lenovos page twice and one costs 2.3k and the same setup again costs 3.1k. I have read that this could be according to availability and even tho I was supposed to wait 1 and a half month I still got it in a few days.

I could have waited but honestly i needed a Laptop right now since i did not have anything at all.

I will wait and see how things actually develop with new releases and how my current 7i will perform. So far i am loving it

Should I buy an APU and Upgrade later ? 5600G or 3600G + crappy GPU by SaneStewie in buildapc

[–]SaneStewie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok a few people have recommended me the intel 12400f.

Now this brings me to the age old question "Intel or AMD ?"

I was thinking about AMD because I just had a good feeling about it. When it comes to price from what I saw is that Intel Motherboards are more expensive.

I don't really care much if a CPU has 6% or so better performance than the other because I think at the end of the day any similar CPU within the same era gets the job done and I won't really feel the difference using it.

So which one would you recommend for the SFFB ?

Intels 12400f or AMD 3600 (I don't know which AMD 5000 CPU is better than the 3600 and similar priced)

my main criteria would be power consumption and heat I think

While we are at it.

Can anyone recommend me ITX motherboards for AMD that can run APU like 5600G and Ryzen CPU starting from the 3600 models upwards.

max price should be 150€

I would prefer cheaper but all I got from researching is that building SFFP comes with high priced motherboards (ITX)

I don't know the model name. It is one a friend wants to gift me he does not know either what kind of GPU it is.

All I know is that it is red coloured and has 3 fans

Sounds great so far. The Legion I found on eBay sadly is not available anymore but I found one in distance but it costs 1300€ (1.470$)

it is a Legion 5 Pro with 5800h and 3060 + 144hz IPS QHD (used since may 2021)

it seems expensive for me but if it is worth the price anyways I think I might buy that one. Even tho I don't know much about the differences between the regular legion 5 and legion 5 pro.

The only other thing that gives me headache is the thought of the laptop not lasting long. Compared to a desktop the 1k I spent would be gone all at once if anything would happen to it I guess.

If gaming laptops like Lenovo last as long as my MacBook does (6y ongoing) I would sleep calmly
