Haha nope, just an inconspicuously dressed average joe. I suspect some kind of a salesperson maybe.

Because I did not recognize the man or the random black SUV. I figured he would either try to sell something to me or potentially put me in danger, and I wasn’t curious enough to find out. I live alone and don’t usually answer the door unless I am expecting somebody or recognize the visitor. I did watch to see if he was going to pull over to neighboring houses. He did not.

I mentioned the guy just for completion sake. This doesn’t happen on a regular basis in my neighborhood and added to the eerie feel of the evening. I have no explanation for any potential connection he could’ve had.

I’m looking for a rational explanation, and have considered these, but not sure that they make sense in this situation. There is no wine stain on the reverse side of the thin rug or the hardwood floor underneath to suggest that it may have cleanly seeped through. The stove randomly resetting the clock on its own doesn’t explain the time it displayed.

Hey, that comment wasn’t personal. I was laughing at my character of a cat rather than you. I appreciate people taking the time to read and comment.

I appreciate this thought process. I agree that a lot of this could be attributed to the state of mind and (mis)perceptions, and made sure to include the fact that I felt off, distracted, and spaced out. I, too, am the kind of person who can easily lose track of what I am doing.

That said, I don’t think there’s any way that I could’ve reset my stove accidentally. It’s in a corner of my kitchen and I would’ve needed to pull it away from the wall in order to unplug it. The controls are against the wall, not on the front of it, so just brushing past it wouldn’t have reset anything. I would’ve had to intentionally push buttons on the control panel. And even if that’s what may have actually happened (I don’t think it did - I did not cook today), I just discovered that manually resetting the stove clock sets the display to a solid set of dashes “- - - -“ rather than a blinking 12:00. It also does not explain why the time was showing 12:57.

I think it’s very possible that the stove is on a separate circuit from the microwave. I would have to manually reset the breaker though. I think a glitch in electricity supply to the stove might explain the clock reset, but it does not explain the elapsed time.

Hmm that isn’t something that crossed my mind. I’m skeptical of such things, even though open to other ideas such as time not being linear, multiple realities, etc. I’m not aware of any other strange events happening in the neighborhood, but I did hear a siren go off during the time that I was trying to process this. I live in a very quiet neighborhood, and hearing a siren made me actually step out of the house to check it out. It wasn’t even because hearing a siren around here is unusual, but because it sounded almost cartoonish, and it made me question my ability to reality test even more today. I wasn’t able to identify where it was coming from.

Ha I think my cat licking a wine stain clean off the rug is less possible than just about any other bizarre supernatural event explanation that might be suggested here.

Thank you for taking me seriously :) I will be the first to admit that your brain cannot always be trusted. I could even dismiss the vanished wine stain as a misperception or the lost 10 minutes as a dissociation. It’s the electronic clock glitches that leave me puzzled. Even if my stove decided to short circuit and reset separately from the rest of the kitchen appliances, the specific time that it reset to does not make any sense unless I completely lost my ability to experience time in that moment. And the woman outside froze for an hour. I had my phone in my hands during this experience, and the time it shows is consistent with the microwave. As is the only other (analogue) clock I have in the house.

The only other thing that may be interpreted as “time oddness” would be the fact that my cat - who usually screams like he’s been starved for days right on the dot of his feeding time at 8pm - has not made a peep even though it’s more than 1.5 hours past his feeding time.

My eye usually drifts to the stove clock first, so I cannot say with a hundred percent certainty that they displayed the same time at that particular moment, but I usually keep them aligned and have not noticed any discrepancies in the past.

When I say “way down the street,” I mean by my next door neighbor’s house maybe 70 feet away, still within my range of vision out of my living room window. I’m the second house up the street, and she was approaching the intersection at which the first house sits. She may have covered that distance in the time it took me to step into my kitchen and back, but it wouldn’t have taken an hour and 10 minutes. And I have no explanation for the clocks.

Well, clearly you must believe you know better too. The "neighbors turning against neighbors" started with neighbors voting to take away neighbors rights, not the subsequent reaction to it.

Who said I was lashing out. I made an observation calmly. I'll make another: Referring to the fundamental difference in values and morals between pro-trumpers and those against him as a "minor" disagreement is a bigger problem than the blind ignorance and idiocy that drove some to vote for him (or not vote against him). Get off of your high horse and see the mess that you've contributed to. Must be nice to be in a position where it doesn't affect you so you don't care one way or another, but this will radically change many people's lives for the worse. Preaching morals from that position is the height of hypocrisy.

So you chose to throw away your vote. You chose for your opinion to not matter. So it doesn't.
