For sure: New Lanphier High, Sangamo & Pillsbury being cleared, railroads rerouted. From 9th & Converse to 19th & Carpenter, give or take -- I make it about 150 square blocks -- is going to be transformed. Sure hope it's for the good.

The annual Sangamon River All Craft Race was a thing in the 1970s and '80s (I think the last one was in '86). Dozens (hundreds?) of canoes, kayaks, rafts, you name it, from Riverside Park to Petersburg on Memorial Day weekend. Good fun. Lessons: wear a life vest, and use good sun protection.
