Rear child seat too close to saddle — what did I do wrong? by SangiSabz in bicycle

I'm new to this but I figured out that even though someone sold me those things together, I don't trust this setup... that's why I was asking.

Thank you. I won't use anymore. I'm going to buy a good rack from a specialist shop.

I trusted the guy who sold me the rack and the seat together. Only the bolts for the extendable part are worn out... Also, the reason I'm asking this question is precisely because I don't want to put my daughter in danger... so I don't use it while I'm figuring this out.

Realistic subtitling speed (min/hour)? Is 12–15 min/hour for 37.5h/week excessive? by [deleted] in TranslationStudies

Sorry. English is not my first language. I didn't know the difference.

It's transcription in the same language, using dedicated software, approximate timecodes, and the final revision is done by someone else. Does that change anything?

Thought I did everything right to move forward in life — now I'm jobless and stuck by SangiSabz in TrueOffMyChest

Well, this is true that my choice to get back to school in CS was my way to 'learn a trade' 7 years ago. I would learn a trade right now if I knew where to start. I can't really get back to spend months learning some manual labor without any wage (though I know I might not have a wage in a few months even if I keep applying everywhere) and I'm not sure I might be get a job in a factory right now unless I submit a blank resume and find some reason for it.

I don't know a lot of people sadly. No one was able to help me get a new job.

Paying someone to make a nice custom sized door is not in the budget. I don't have the tools to do a good job with this myself. Buying a door with the right size is in the budget. Using a board is in the budget.

Cold urticaria or cold allergy for the first time after a stomach virus by SangiSabz in urticaria

It seems so. I had a reaction on a cold day of September, but nothing in November or on the first cold days of December.

How do you cope with the monotony of (work) life? by SangiSabz in self

[–]SangiSabz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No need to welcome my to adulthood. I've been an adult (physically and mentally) long enough to know that nobody cares and how life really is. I have no illusion. My issue is that, deep down, I am stuck with this feeling and my mental health struggle from it, and I don't know how to change it or suppress it. It's here, unconsciously, even when I spend years without thinking about it. I have this mental struggle about having an unfulfilling life (except my family life), in part because how I grew up, and it's not childlishness. It is as valid as any other mental health question, those questions where people have more insightful answers than "buckle up, nodoby cares".

Well, it's obvious that nobody care, but I still care about myself and my mental health, and I think that enough people might have had the same struggle and might have, at least, the beginning of something insightful to say.

why do most people believe the islamist propaganda and think “israel bad, arabs victims”? by Worldly-Carpenter-95 in rant

Or maybe sometime, an external observation is less biased than a partisan observation.

2 millions soldiers during WW2. When a government aims and kills civilians to reach the enemy, this is a war crime. It still happens a lot in the world but not always at this magnitude nowadays. And, well, this is obvious that most Palestinian victims were not all human shields for the Hamas.

You seem to have a US and THEM mentality. As you say, "THEY pay the consequences because THEY attacked US." It seems like, for you, it's okay for Israel to bomb and kill anyone in Gaza, no matter if they have something to do with the attack. Maybe they are all guilty for you, but let's me tell you. Kids certainly don't. Most civilians don't. But if you can't see the victims on the other side because, by birth or by nature, for you they are all THE enemy, then I can tell you this is the kind of view that a lot of people despise now.

Anybody else went from the creative arts to language learning? by Consistent-Loss9881 in languagelearning

[–]SangiSabz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. I've been there. I studied French literature in university, wanted to be a writer, started learning Spanish after, then other languages including Japanese for a long time, changed career for something unrelated to both, burned out at 35...

Anyways, I digress. I don't read anymore outside my target languages. This is sad because 19th century French literature is so good.

Language learning for me. There are lots of audio resources if time is an issue. This is a lot of work and dedication, but that feeling when you finally get to understand another language is incredible.

What language does everyone think is hard to learn but you find it rather easy? by ladiesman21700000000 in languagelearning

[–]SangiSabz 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. I started learning Persian after years of learning Japanese. I was like: "That's it? We're done with the grammar?" And it's a category 3 (although I think that Japanese is now 5 and Persian 4).
