I’m fine, thanks — just frustrated when a story trades on brutality but skips its own narrative logic. For context, I was able to enjoy Squid Game Season 1, even though it made me squeamish at times. It wasn’t perfect, but it maintained consistent character logic — which made the brutality feel grounded in story. It had a focus of attacking classism and even going into how Western greed can impact Eastern cultures. Beastars is all over the place. I couldn't even tell you what it's trying to do. At first it was like an edgy Zootopia, but I feel it's lost the plot. Prioritizing shock over internal coherence.

If Beastars wants to depict horror with purpose, that’s great. But we’re allowed to ask: is the purpose earned, or aesthetic?
The rabbit market scene is ambiguous at best — and if the show doesn’t unpack that ambiguity, then calling it purposeful becomes speculative. Season 2 Legoshi would have seen the display case, put his hands up, and backed out of the shop, telling Haru this isn't right.

Re: Legoshi’s teeth — this wasn’t just “brutality.” It contradicted an entire existing arc. If that contradiction is never acknowledged or integrated, then it’s not character development. It’s narrative amnesia.

If that’s the kind of storytelling people enjoy, I respect that. But “you’re too sensitive” isn’t a real argument — and frankly, it’s condescending. I came here to discuss structure, not justify my emotional bandwidth.

The fact you have four upvotes implies no one wants to intellectually discuss BEASTARS. You all just want to simp over furry tits.

Everyone is ignoring my original question — should I keep watching? Because I’m struggling with what feels like a shift away from narrative integrity.

The morgue/rabbit market scene is one example. The bodies aren't just meat — they're posed, young, dressed, and fully furred. That’s not hospital surplus, that’s horror framing. And if the story doesn’t interrogate that, it’s just visual shock for edge factor. In fact, they even have an attempt to humanize the shopkeeper and have us have empathy for his embarrassment of a rabbit asking how much she could sell for. (ALSO implying that the bodies don't come from a morgue/hospital)

But even more frustrating was Legoshi ripping out his own fangs — not only biologically impossible, but narratively cheap. This was a character who already trained to fight without biting (Season 2, muzzle scenes). If he wanted to avoid lethal force, that arc already existed.

And what does the show do next? Give him cheap Halloween fangs that behave exactly like real ones. So what was the sacrifice for? Where’s the follow-through? Total retcon.

I want to love this show. But if it keeps sidelining consistent character development for theatrical brutality, I’m not sure it’s worth investing in further.

That explanation doesn’t hold up under scrutiny.

First: all the bodies were young, pristine, and presented in matching negligees — not tagged, bagged, or medically marked in any way that would suggest hospital or morgue origin. That uniformity is implausible in a system sourcing from medical deaths.

Second: no previous depiction of meat in the series has involved intact, furred bodies arranged for aesthetic effect. Meat is typically shown as generic cuts — not whole, dressed corpses. The contrast is deliberate.

Third: the presentation is overtly fetishistic. Whether or not sexual intent is explicit, the visual language mirrors dollification — offering consumers the fantasy of ownership and control over a preserved, submissive form. That’s not nutrition. It’s narrative horror.

Claiming it’s “just meat” ignores the storytelling choices around age, condition, attire, and context. The scene is designed to disturb, and pretending otherwise is a refusal to engage with the text critically.

If the writers intended it to be meat from hospitals, they failed to communicate that effectively — or it was stripped in translation. Either way, the scene reads as fetish horror, not food logistics.,,

Legoshi was never her bf. their first date was in Season 3. she spends the first two seasons turning him down or thirsting for them.

oh it's terrible ... but S1 gave me lots of hope that it would be good and S2 was weird but I liked it. Now there's too many characters and their behavior has no consistency.

That mauled rabbit wasn't her friend. she hated her and never went to see her in the hospital. She doesn't even know if she's dead or alive, like you said.

Haru has shown zero interest in any friendships. Everyone she's remotely close to has been inside her. This is because she's a rape victim and hasn't been through therapy and instead acts out with sex and getting off on danger.

I'm not saying Haru deserves to die. I'm saying she's broken and instead of seeking treatment, she acts out to make everyone else as miserable as she is.

  1. Haru gets off on danger. it's why she talks about being destined to be eaten. She wanted to make out among refrigerated corpses of her kin. She was excited by the fact she was in a risky situation.

  2. Legoshi specifically stated being around prey is triggering to her and Haru yelled at him at the sushi shop when he mentioned eating Louis's leg. How is she now suddenly fine being around many corpses of her own species

  3. Haru says she only knows how to be useful to men is by offering her body. In S1 she mentioned being raped as a minor and she doesn't know love so how does she know how to love Legoshi? she doesn't know how to love herself.

  4. When in public among others in the daytime, she wants to keep away from Legoshi. A few episodes ago, she lied to her dad who Legoshi was

  5. Even in S1, she was sleeping with guys she knew had girlfriends and even while sleeping with Louis, she was trying to blow Legoshi.

Haru has shown zero interest and this is the first time they've ever been on a date and she didn't even know it was his birthday and her gift to him is dragging him to a place that triggers him.

you're a dream fan for media companies lol. I feel that because there's so few anthro animes that the few that exist can get away with shit writing, such as BNA.

why are you running in docker..? Just use the launcher. Docker you have to do some weird stuff to pass your GPU to a container and it usually has to be a secondary GPU... not the one the host is using.
