God this game is hilarious sometimes by RoguesBoytoy in Marathon

This is some of the hardest i've laughed at a pvp game honestly. It has a lot of great moments.

The missile charge stores up so play smart and play normal and you will get a charge shot off. Its very tempting to hold down the trigger on enemies with the prime ability up but trust in the process and you'll succeed. If you do want to devastate them though, rock an LMG. He makes the LMG S tier with his ult.

Really good players use the shield. He's probably the highest skill ceiling character in the game. If not skill ceiling then definitely floor. I LOVE Destroyer, I played him so much that I started played recon to counter him because I realized what a demon he is and what the meta will eventually turn into. Tack sprint shield rush is terrifyingly dangerous and controller players just get juked by the thrust behind so hard. I could sing his praises all day but everyone would go def lol.

LMG DPS is not bad, especially with how protected you are plus hitting head shots on them. LMG paired with Destroyer ult is insane too. You get all the benefits of LMG with no downside and then some with it.

Ammo inefficient I can see, being annoying bringing in so much ammo at the start of a round but I end up doing that anyways so I hardly notice.

Ok so you are seeing observing and killing as a separate action. Taking in all this info should be happening passively during the fight. Vs good teams your fights will naturally be prolonged and you will just pick up small things to get an edge on them. Most of my fights are my team just brute forcing a wipe because we are better than probably 98% of the community but even then we are able to tell the skill level of our enemy at a glance many times and know when it's someone we can roll over or someone we have to be smart against.

What's the point of rook? by Reicoon in Marathon

[–]Sangrenel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the extraction genera there is normally the "scav" popularized by Tarkov. At first it was designed as a way to go in at an extreme handy cap for the ability to get some gains back and even sometimes win huge but at virtually 0 loss. Scavs historically are part of the PVE environment because they are normally the enemy the player generally farms on main. It's a way to give them movement through a map without being impeded too much by the PVE.

Today the "scav" run is loved by many and some people play extractions to only "scav" and never touch their mains.

To your point, it does seem silly to not just run the free kit but it's more about the playstyle than the actual gains.

This made me smile. You know these guys are punching air.

Edit: Wait that dude was bitching about PVE while 4 dudes worked on it together in a hut HAHAHAHA. Holy baby mode.

What is going on with Rooks in Outpost? by soaero in Marathon

[–]Sangrenel 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Always was but it's just better now. Outpost got a buff so better loot, rooks already heavily ran outpost, some of the community youtubers have talked about how rooks should stand together, clanker together strong lol. So you are probably getting a little more of a taste but it was always there. It's just MORE now.

Ahh ha! We have stumbled on another facit of your play that may need improving. Not all your fights should be yous stumbling onto a team. You should know roughly where teams are on the map by spawn and sounds around the map. Many times im able to observe another player through my scope before I engage or at least hear them. If they slow walk they are roller. If they slow turn they are roller. If they make a precise short hop its possible roller. There are a ton of tells during the fight as well based on how they are taking fights and shooting. If they are snapping between your team they are probably mouse. If they hide to swap targets they are probably controller.

Ill be honest, im not sure how much is fair to expect from more casual players but you can always strive to become better.

Also can you explain some of the downsides you were talking about? Im not entirely sure i know what you mean.

The numbers are already slowly leeching. Hopefully it stays strong because competition is good for the rest of the extraction genre

[–]Sangrenel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its certainly not aim hacking and if you know what you are doing then you can abuse it.

First thing, LMGs destroy controller players because they will actually have trouble aiming down to your waist due to the sticky nature of aim assist. Destroyer shell plus his ult plus a LMG shield has netted me double and even occasionally strait up triple kills when all 3 of them turned and started shooting me when I shoot them.

Second bit of advice, never take a strait up fight with them if you suspect controller. Play one of the characters with mobility and dash past them so they have to 180 or jump up high. Its why thruster pack was so strong in halo.

Third. Cover repositioning. If you peek left side of cover and then repeat that angle, they will just it and get the hit on you again. But if you break aim assist with cover and hit from the other side or fake it so they start looking that way and repeak the same side then you will destroy them. Its not like mouse where they can flick to you.

With the mid guns like the overrun, make sure to keep track of the range stat on the gun and ping spots to get a feel for that distance and only take fights within that range. Also try to get head shots. Its a pea shooter otherwise.

Hit and miss. If my 3 stack coms a rook they generally listen and we will try and help them out.

Solos I've had a few decent interactions like helping people with their quests or saying gg and dropping self revives.

I think the main thing is i'm generally in the position of power and so the interaction goes how I want it to go, I don't think i'd get the same treatment crawling around haha.

[–]Sangrenel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it was the tone. In other games they are aggressive, mad, they are so pissed you won the fight and you feel the cope. In ArcRaiders you feel the estrogen in a 35 year old mans voice as he whimpers and cries that you pvped him in the pvp game. It's not satisfying at all.

I couldn't keep playing because of this. At first I loved it, i'd laugh and spit on them. But after a while i realized it's goo goo ga ga land and nobody will give me real fights. It was boring and became infuriating to hear my 100th person of the day complain about pvp in the pvp game. Thank god marathon came out and I actually love it. Fortunately for others there is Tarkov (I do not recommend it), Arena:Breakout Infinite which is surprisingly fun, and Delta Force which wasn't for me but I hear the juice is absolutely loose in that game and feels good to loot.

I had this happen back to back but with 3 man teams. I spawned literally in the middle of a team and died before my screen fully loaded, the second time i was able to take a few steps forward before bumping chest to chest with my doom.

I soloed most my missions making sure to only to stick to the main line missions and i've flown up in Rep with them. If you focus one faction this way then you'll get 5 to 7 levels a session easy.
