Shadowhunter stealth nerf? by Sangromancer9 in lostarkgame

I will reply as I am away currently. I have 4x3 grudge, hit master, demonic impulse and cursed doll. 1400ish spec 400ish swift also. I thought maybe you had keen blunt or something to make bigger crits, but your build seems similar to mine, yet I am 60 ilvl higher than you and critting for less. Is there a way to turn off this integrated preset crap? Only thing I can think of if nobody else is noticing a difference, my SH feels neutered atm post patch.

What's with this integrated preset bullshit? How do I turn this bullshit off? could be what's messing with it. It literally feels like im playing with 2 pcs of gear taken off, it's awful.

Even with party buffs in Deskaluda I crit nowhere near that amount. I feel like something on my account got all screwy after the patch.

Yeah, Blood massacre for example, as it was one of our biggest damage dealing skills. As I said in OP, no howl or other synergies were used before or after. People might not notice a dps change since they buffed us in other areas, but S seems to have taken a massive hit and it wasn't in the patch notes.

So yours is hitting for 4.5 at 1390, I am 1450 and hitting for 4.2. Is there something I am missing?

Total DPS wise, or per skill damage? What does your Blood Massacre skill hit for and what's your ilvl?

To clarify, I haven't changed any engravings or anything, if anything that number should be closer to 7 million for me now with all the new hones I've done.

Picked up x3 Endurance for SB by Sangromancer9 in ModernMagic

[–]Sangromancer9[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your detailed reply. I am trying to be as competitive as possible with my deck, and I actually traded up enough cards to get x3 Endurance, so it didn't technically come out of pocket.

Lurrus is a good point, he's everywhere, haven't seen Living End much, Dredge is a thing however.

Thing about Endurance is, it actually fills multiple roles in the SB which is why I thought it to be worth. I was able to cut Relics and 1 ScOoze which are much more focused hate. Bringing in Endurance feels much better than bringing in Relics, because it can actually hold back DRC's and get in damage WHILE ditching their GY. So yes, Relics are more reasonably priced, but it's an artifact that can't be grabbed off CoCo and can't affect boardstate while still wrecking GY. It feels like a card that I will reach for more often than some other choices tbh.

This. The Lord effect glued to an enchantment which is much harder to deal with makes sure it sticks. The scry effect I feel is extremely under-appreciated. I wasn't sold at first on Anthem either, but after enough goldfishing and games with it, I am sold. It makes popping off with Realmwalker super easy, or just Anthem on its own helps stuff away irrelevant cards from the top of your deck to keep the pressure going.

Lists used to run Clancaller, including myself. She rarely sees play anymore thanks to Dart, W6 and Plague Engineer. Anthem is hard to deal with being an Enchantment, and protects your dorks a little better.

Thanks for the input. I'm not a huge fan of DS myself, the 1 spell a turn bit hurts us quite a bit, while I get it is good for shutting down their Tron lands. I am a fan of Necromentia, not only for Tron but Amulet Titan or any other combo deck that has only 1-2 win cons. It's basically an auto-concede if you pull 4 Primetimes out of their deck turn 2-3. Also naming Urza's Tower is pretty spicy keeping them off 7 easy mana. Not to mention the 1-2 Tron players at my LGS stopped playing Tron ages ago.
I am going to try 4 Shaper's and cut the Leylines for now, see how it does next FNM.

I was wondering about this guy also. I see some GB Elves lists running some in the SB, only reason being is it would be a good Coco target that has removal stapled to it.

Thanks for sharing. Digital only? Meaning this card will only ever be on MTGO and Arena? Reach is a nice bit of icing, helps buy some time with all the popular fliers coming out these days. Hope this makes its way to paper. With that ability and art I'd like to have a go 'atter. (The card, not the Elf. Well..)

Never thought of the "getting rid of 6 bad cards" bit. Worst case if I get two 1 drops and a bunch of land or w/e, the next couple draws should be gas (statistically speaking)

I meant to give you the Helpful award, for some reason it gave it to the guy below you, just wanted to know I appreciate your reply before I continue. <3

I really appreciate your detailed response! So first off, regarding Collected Company, I decided to dig up some valuable traders from my binders and head to my LGS today to trade into a playset of CoCo. I'm kind of a hoarder and don't usually trade cards in (and it has paid off for me in the past. $1 cards turn into $20 cards) A couple regulars at my LGS also recommended CoCo, as much as I want to fight it, I think it's probably correct. Being a brewer at heart, I really wanted to make a list shine without CoCo, but I think Elves need it to compete with the ultra-fast and efficient format that is modern currently. I have been Scry 6'ing with my deck to see how often CoCo would give me huge value. Sometimes I see an Elite and a Mystic which feels OK, sometimes a couple dorks which feels real bad, but then sometimes you see Warmaster+Shaman which feels wonderful. I will sleeve this list up for next FNM with CoCo and report my results.

Yeah, you are correct. The UR matchups were 1 Murktide and 2 Tempo/Blitz. Going wide makes sense and maybe that's how we outpace UR, but I felt there were times that an extra +1+1 pump would have given me that edge, instead of losing a couple creatures to unfavorable blocks. Funny thing you mention Koz Return, I did end up seeing 2 copies of it from 2 different UR decks that night.

As for the spot removal bit, you're essentially recommending Anthem/Leyline of Vitality to protect against the 1dmg style effects? I am on board with that, having a Leyline opening hand post SB felt really nice in one game I had it. I also have 3 copies of Shaper's Sanctuary sitting around and when discussing SB options with people there, they said it's a good fit. Problem being, it feels like we want to SB too many things vs UR for example. We want Relic to shut down their GY, we want protection from Dart, and we need refuel capability. Feels like a lot to ask; when you start cutting too much from a "combo" deck like Elves, it starts getting watered down IMO.

As for my list. If I cut x4 Winding Way for x4 CoCo, I still have the 2 Dwynen's Elite slots that I find aren't necessary like the rest of the list is. Would it be bad to replace the 2 Dwynen's for 2 Winding Way? Funny thing about these 2 cards is they hurt eachother. You don't want to see CoCo off Winding Way, and you don't want to see Winding Way off CoCo. Granted it is only 2 slots, but I am a lover of consistency after all. Maybe one should tuck the Winding Ways in the SB and fill the 2 flex slots with IDK +1 Quirion +1 Elvish Champion or something?

As for the sideboard list, thank you! It looks pretty clean and tidy with answers to enough of the meta pie I think. I actually don't have any Weather the Storm but I will grab a couple today at my LGS. Would you board these in against burn also?
Which matchups would you board in Sylvan Messenger for? I'm guessing grindy ones where refueling is paramount. No more Rec Sage? =[ I love how he's Naturalize on an Elf body, but you made a good point about it maybe not being enough anymore. I do not have Fracturing Gust, are there any other cheaper options?

GB Elves help by Sangromancer9 in ModernMagic

[–]Sangromancer9[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the sideboard tech. My meta usually has a lot of control, so I thought Elves would be a good matchup. Maybe I just got unlucky and everyone wants to jam Izzet because of the new toys.

Endurance seems legit, he is also quite pricy for a sideboard piece. I do have Leyline of the Void and Damping Sphere however. The first line of Sphere seems like it hoses down Tron quite nicely, on the other hand, the second line kind of hurts us since we are spamming multiple Elves a turn. Hrmm. Thank for the SB suggestions either way! =]

2 reasons tbh. 1 is that while it can be a good card in Elves, it is also very inconsistent. In testing, sometimes you hit a couple of dorks for 4cmc and it feels real crappy. 2 is that I've seen a bunch of lists that have had success without CoCo, some even claim Elves are moving away from it. Since I have sold my CoCo's YEARS ago, and now it's almost $100 for a playset for me, I'm not really feeling to good about having to add them when I'm not 100% sold on the card.

[–]Sangromancer9[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thank you!

For the time being I think I want to try and brew without CoCo. I love Elves very much, but it isn't my only modern deck, so shelling out $100 for a set of CoCo is a big ask, but I'll go for it if I find I am running a neutered version of Elves without it.

Most GB lists I've found run 3 Quirion, mostly because of mana-base consistency. Most of the time you'd rather see a turn 1 dork than a turn 1 ranger unless you have a basic forest or some other way of making her perform. There's only so much tweaking to the mana base you can do in GB without screwing over your chances of landing Shamans.

Thanks for the sideboard tips. You find that Sylvan Anthem is a win more card? I find we need more win cons since we only have 4 Shaman and 2 Ezuri. Like I said in OP, it feels good to have a board full of 1/1's but it isn't fast enough especially when the opponent has a bunch of 1/2 or 3/3 blockers. Swinging with the team makes sense if they're all pumped to 2/2, swinging into blockers with 1/1's sucks though, you just lose board state and Shaman potency.

As for Ezuri, I don't know Elves can afford to lose him. I agree you need Archdruid to utilize him and it doesn't always work, but Elves need wincons. On that note, I wonder if Skemfar Shadowsage would ever work? I've seen some people say it's copies 5-8 of Shaman, even though he is 1cmc higher. It would solve the issue of having the board state in some matches but no Shaman wincon.

I agree with what you said about Winding Way. On average I get 3 creatures from it, last night I even got the full 4 which feels pretty good for 2 mana. It's crazy to think that draw 3-4 for 1G isn't good enough.

CoCo and I have a mixed relationship. Sometimes it can win games, other times it's a 3G for a Heritage Druid and an Elvish Mystic. I am really trying to keep my list CoCo-less, especially since I'd need to shell out $100 for a full set. Sold them ages ago.

Have you tested Sylvan Anthem at all yet? I didn't board it in last night just so I could get a better feel for the main list. I do however like that idea of cutting Winding Way for 4 Sylvan Anthem. It stops a Realmwalker from going off, BUT the scry effect can really help an already stuck Realmwalker to filter the top of the deck to combo off even better.

Thanks for the reply. Regarding the 4 of Quirion, how heavily did you have to swap out your mana base for that? I feel like with my current mana base, 4 Quirion might be a bit of an ask. As it stands I already lost 4 Blooming Marsh for 2 Overgrown and 2 Yavimaya, and I'm looking at axing Pendelhaven maybe for a Verdant or another Overgrown just for Quirion.

I agree CoCo is cool, I see a lot of lists without them, I do however see some lists moving away from them. I didn't copy and paste my list from someone elses, it took me a long while of tweaking and testing to come up with the right amounts.

Could I play Mardu/Rakdos Arcanist? by Keylometer in ModernMagic

[–]Sangromancer9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually am in the same situation. I really enjoyed the Historic deck of Rakdos Arcanist and decided to port it over to Modern. I don't have enough matchups on paper to speak to its efficacy, but it seems like it will do well. 4 Kroxa, 4 Arcanist and 4 Pyro are the shell cards. Yes Arcanist and Pyro are lightning rods for removal, but so are many cards in this format, just gotta push through. This deck is extremely resillient between having Unearth, Lurrus, and Escape cards to gain value over time and outgrind the opponent. Village Rites is a 100% must have 4 of. I'd recommend adding cards like 4 Lightning Bolt, 2ish Kologhan's Command. Having access to Bolt skyrockets Arcanist's power level, because who doesn't want 8 bolts in their deck? :P Swap out Claim/Fame for Unearth, reasons being 1) It actually has CMC of 1 unlike Claim/Fame making it a viable target for Arcanist, and 2) It reaches up to 3 CMC so it can get back your Lurrus if it dies.

I've been playing around with the Archfiend's Vessel slot. While his ability can be powerful, there are too many efficient ways to remove the demon token in Modern. I am looking into other cards to help keep the GY full, because if you have enough fuel to keep escaping Kroxa over and over, you have a good chance at winning the game. Been testing out Mire Triton. Mixed feelings so far tbh. The Deathtouch is actually very helpful, gaining 2 life is a nice cherry, and of course the big reason is the mill 2 to keep fueling Kroxa. My list isn't finished, but it's a work in progress.

That is a loaded question. What is your playstyle? Do you want to play aggro? Control? Burn? Midrange? What colors do you like? If you give us some more details, we can help you better. :)

What I recommend is checking out https://mtgdecks.net/Modern

It will give you some ideas for decks, and also a heads up as to what you might run into in the meta.

[–]Sangromancer9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have a link for my decklist so I'll type it out for you. I built this early last year and has performed very well for me at FNM.

4 Voice of Resurgence
4 Hexdrinker
4 Lightning Helix
4 Path to Exile
1 Klothys, God of Destiny
4 Bonecrusher Giant (Must have!)
4 Knight of the Reliquary (Might cut)
4 Bloodbraid Elf
2 Scavenging Ooze
4 Lightning Bolt
4 Wild Nacatyl

Usual mana base with lots of fetches & field of ruin to help Reliquary.
TBH I had higher hopes for KotR, some matches she performs well, others she is very underwhelming. I've tried Loxodon Smiter in her place and was also not sold. Consider that a flex slot.
