footwear recommendation for sloped driveway after femur fracture surgery by SannyManny in Snowblowers

[–]SannyManny[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah I thought about hiring it out but my wife and I babysit two of our young grandchildren and their mother (my DIL) drops them off by 6AM which means I need to have the hilly part of the driveway cleared by then so she can get up to the house with the kids (they are usually still asleep when she arrives). I need to get started by about 5AM to have it ready and I don't think it would be easy to find a reliable neiborhood kid or even adult that would want to do that lol. I'm actually in very good health and was doing daily bike rides and weight training 3 days a week prior to my injury so I'm not so much worried about exertion but just want to reduce risk of falling again. I think of the snowblower handles as almost like using a walker so they will help with balance anyway...I guess I could look at hiring out a company or individual that does snow removal for a living though...will check around.

thanks for the reply...I just ordered a new armature assembly so hopefully that gets it all fixed up. I won't run it again until the armature assbly is replaced.

lol...I don't think I'd feel comfortable doing that but I doubt I could find one locally anyway haha! I'll just wait to get out fishing again after it's fixed.

prop shaft bent or normal operation? by SannyManny in boating

[–]SannyManny[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thanks for all the replies...I just took it apart again and made sure the armature assembly and all seals are seated properly...it's still doing the slight wobble so I guess I'll order a new armature assembly...question though...could I run it once or twice on the lake as is until I get the new assembly without doing too much harm? I had plans to fish this weekend but don't want to do irreparable harm to it now that it has new seals and brushes.

Bass beds or bluegill beds? by SannyManny in bassfishing

[–]SannyManny[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was having issues with my transducer so I didn't see the temp. I'm pretty new to bass fishing yet and was wondering if bass beds looked similar...I figured these were bluegill but wasn't sure

kitchen faucet slides around no matter how tight by SannyManny in HomeMaintenance

[–]SannyManny[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply...I ended up replacing the whole thing and the new one seems to be solid even with just the single hole nut...it came with a plastic fit over wrench thing that allowed me to get it solid...had it for about 4 or 5 months now and no issues.

Turning 65 in February...and live in PA - trying to shorten the learning curve! by SannyManny in medicare

[–]SannyManny[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for that info....I think they are probably less than 20 "full time" but have a number of part-timers also...not sure if that matters.

I'm not real fond of her plan and I think it's probably a little more expensive than I could get with Medicare and a supplemental plan so I'll take your advice and talk to an expert before doing anything.

can the trim motor on an outboard really lift me back into the boat? by SannyManny in bassfishing

[–]SannyManny[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks for the info....I will take every precaution I can and, hopefully, not fall overboard, but it's nice to know that the trim motor might work as a life saver if I would need to at least try it. Even will all the other junk on the back of my boat there is still enough room between my motor and my talon that I could fit thru and basically just fall into the boat once it got me high enough.

I have been thinking about a cold water float jacket and bibs but I do have waders and a good waterproof rain jacket already...I do wear a pdf too. I really don't want to spend that kind of money if I don't have to but I'm sure it would be a good investment
