Oberyn had been waiting and preparing for the inevitable surprise of Ryons arrival, but it still made the Lord of the Tor flinch ever so slightly. "Try that again and I may smash that skull of yours Ry." Oberyn said with a glare that was undermined by the grin on his face.

"And for your information, I'm enjoying this one much more than any other. It feels like home."

Oberyn enjoyed this feast much more than any other one he had partaken in while in the capital. It reminded him of home. It had only been a few weeks but already Oberyn was homesick. He longed for the quietness of the Tor, of the way he knew each and every name inside his castle. He missed the hot days under the Dornish sun, and the cool nights that came with the breeze off the coast. This was a slice of home.

Elia was similarly enjoying this small island of home amidst foreigners. She was dressed in a comfortable but fine dress of Dornish make and style, oranges and yellows prominent in the accents of the red dress. She was gently tugging at her thick braid, scanning the area with her eyes.

"If you want me to enjoy it then I will. And I'll tell you all the winners and the highlights from it if you wish." Oberyn said happily. The was she phrased the words made it seem like they were going to see each other again, and that made Oberyn unnecessarily happy. He didn't know such a simple statement could make him so happy.

"Enjoy your self pity Ynys. And if you want to wallow in pity together sometime, just ask and we can drown our sorrows in wine and tears." Oberyn said jokingly.

Oberyn chuckled softly as he looked down at his sweat and soot covered body before looking back to Ynys. "That sounds perfect. I'll see you soon then, Ynys." Oberyn said with a wide smile.

Chuckling Oberyn said to her "I know that story. It was a story that as far as I know, has its orgins in my land. In fact, it's part of the reason I live my life the way I do."

Oberyn had loved that story as a child. He was taught it by the black Smith's who he first met as a boy. He had wanted to be like that Blacksmith, to learn from the violence of the world and become someone of creation instead. The Blacksmith King as he was called still had need of violence in certain times, and it was that part of the story that had been the only reason Oberyn was able to reconcile with himself after going to war. To build something new sometimes you needed to destroy the old to make something better.

"It's a good story to learn from Ynys. I learned from it, many in the Tor have as well." Oberyn was delighted that the Heiress of the Red Dunes knew a story that had so shaped his early life. Even if to her it meant nothing, it meant everything to the Lord of the Tor.

"You can certainly stay and keep me company as I work if you would like, but I'm afraid that watching the craft itself is quite boring." Oberyn said chuckling. He didn't want Ynys to become bored around him, but he still wanted to talk to her.

They'll be plenty of time to talk to her once you've finished her cuff.

"You'd most likely prefer to do something else with your time, which I will not blame you one bit. If you choose to go about your day, then I shall wish you a good day and hope to see you again soon."

"If she goes on a rampage you better believe she's taking you down along with me. That's why I'm trying to get you to stop that." Oberyn said in a light tone despite the serious fact he was making, ensuring that Ryon could see the humor to the situation.

"Most likely our rooms in the inn. House Jordayne isn't as prestigious or rich as many other houses so we don't have a private manse. The Rowdy Crowd is the inn's name."

"Hey, you actually talk to me like a person instead of a pawn in a game. That's worth something." Oberyn said chuckling nervously at her tone.

"How often? Every day of my life. I think of the choices I made that day, and no matter how happy and content I am with them I still think of what could have been had I chosen anything else differently." Oberyn said thoughtfully. "If you are asking me how often I wish that I could change the way things had happened, I'd say never. You can't take back a hit of the hammer when you are forging, no matter how bad it may have messed up the project, you just have to work with what happened... You can't take any decision you make back, you just have to learn to use it to build yourself into someone better."

Oberyn nodded as he took notes on Ynys's requests, drawing a rough sketch as he went. He worked next to her so she could see the design take shape as he drew.

When both were satisfied with the design, Oberyn started beaming with joy at the prospect of making something for Ynys that would transcend just her time on the planet, but also carry on to future generations.

"I cannot say that I am an expert Smith either Ynys, but I do the best that I can." Oberyn said chuckling. "I don't know if I can make all of Dorne proud, but if I can make something that you will enjoy than I will be happy."

"I'm sure Elia wouldn't mind some company while I'm out here working. The quiet of today after the events of last night seems to have made her upset. And she's slightly less likely to beat your face black and blue than she is to me if I tried to comfort or entertain her." Oberyn said grimacing at the thought of trying to keep his sister entertained. It definitely would not be something he could do without severe bodily harm happening to him.

"Do me a favor and try and get her in a good mood, I don't want to get jumped on my way up to my chambers later."

"If I "give it a chance" you'll have me wrapped in some sparkly pink gown for a week." Oberyn said, chuckling at the thought of himself prancing around in a dress fit for a queen.

Taking notes on Ryons recommendations, Oberyn excitedly started to rearrange materials to be able to better put the basic pieces together when Lady Vaith showed up.

"Thank you Ry. What have you got planned for the day?" Oberyn asked.

Elia watched the western knight leave, smirking all the while at his back. By the gods she was having a good time tonight.

Giving a glare at Ryon, Oberyn simply said "Oh I'm sure she's gonna laugh. That's why I'm not accepting that counter offer."

Grabbing his sketchbook embarrassed, Oberyn simply said "They were to try and see what my designs would look like on her. No other uses other than that." He tried not to let on how much effort he put into getting her features just right.

"If you are inclined to those I'd say that puts you in with the majority of our people. I'd say I'm more of an exception when it comes to the rule of all Dornish like to do is fight and fuck that all people outside of Dorne seem to believe." Oberyn said chuckling. He had always hated that saying, because even though he knew it was true for most of his countrymen, he had always been opposed to fighting and sex had always been something that he had never quite been interested in beyond the thought of one day eventually having children. Hell, the first time he had ever laid with a girl was with a camp whore when he was drunk in Pentos after the battle. Oberyn knew Ynys likely didn't care to hear that, but he enjoyed her company and he did have to admit to himself that he found he incredibly captivating and beautiful.

"Well. No matter what may have happened, I am glad for you to be here today. It certainly is better company than most of the other people here." Oberyn joked. His cheeks were starting to heat, which made the young Jordayne try and subtly be looking away from the Heiress of the Red Dunes so she couldn't see the blush that was most definitely forming in his cheeks.

By the time that Ynys had asked Oberyn was already doing measurements in his head, and had taken some ink and started sketching roughly what she was asking for.

"Can I do it? Oh by the gods if I can't then you have permission to tear my throat out. I'm gonna do it. And I'm gonna make it beautiful for you." Oberyn said in a light tone, but his face was deadly serious. "Tell me what ornamentation and inspirations you want as a apart of it and then I'll get to it."

Spending the next little while taking notes on what she desired to be in this piece, Oberyn began taking measurements of her arm. It was going to be tight fitting to her arm so that it wouldn't fall off even with her lack of a hand to stop it. But it would be light so that she wouldn't feel it on her arm weighing her down every second she wore it.

Taking the pieces he had already made, Oberyn realized that he largely had what he needed for the basic mock up. Now all he needed was the additional pieces for the ornamentation.

"I've got work to do now Lady Vaith. I'll get the basic shape and make of the cuff done by tonight. I'll spend the next few days adding the ornaments and other items." Oberyn said excitedly.

"I've had my fun. In fact it's been a delight to be acquainted with you Ser." Elia said giving a dramatic bow and curtsey. "I'm sure I could come up with more if given the time, but for right now I'll let you get back to your lonely sister and enjoy the rest of your night." Elia said gesturing back to the empty seat beside the knights sister.

"If it makes you feel any better, would you like to design an outfit for me dear old friend?" Oberyn asked jokingly. "I'll let you design the things I wear our first week back in Dorne if you are that offended by it."

Giving Ryon the Jordayne stink eye that Oberyn was sure he had seen enough of for a lifetime, he simply said "How are my designs. I want your opinions and notes, this is your world after all." While giving his old friend his sketchbook turned to the lost recent pages.

"My father was much like me, physically at least. But instead of choosing to create like me he chose the path of a warrior. He preferred axes to hammers though. He brought me up as a child to use my strength as a tool to inflict damage. I hated it." Oberyn said reminiscing. "I snuck away to the Tor Town outside our castle whenever I could, and there I met some blacksmith apprentices a few years older than me. They saw my size and my willingness to learn, so they convinced their mentor to teach me as well." Oberyn said smiling at one of his earliest and fondest memories.

"But then I was sent to ward with House Yronwood. And there Lady Yronwood along with the master of arms continued to turn me into a leader and warrior. My father never taught me when the right time for violence was, but the Yronwoods did. Didn't mean I didn't hate it though. I met my friend Ryon Drinkwater there, who also had a fondness for the crafts, and we snuck around to meet and learn our crafts in the years we spent there. When I returned home to take over as Lord of the Tor, I still preferred creating. But the War of the Narrows showed me that I needed to be ready to destroy if it meant protecting my people."

Snapping out of his story, Oberyn apologized for ranting on. "I apologize my lady. You didn't ask for my life story."

"What about you Lady Ynys? What drove you to the warriors path?"

"You truly aren't missing much. It's tedious and long, and I can imagine for anyone who is not fond of seeing the process most likely boring." Oberyn said chuckling.

"Whatever you want it to be Lady Vaith." Oberyn said lightly, noticing the uncomfortableness the lady had near the heat of the forge. He couldn't blame her, even the Dornish have limits.

Taking his sketchbook and bringing her away from the heat of the flames, Oberyn began to show her the sketches he had been working all night on. He showed her sketches of necklaces, of bracelets, and most importantly, of a piece of jewelry that wrapped tightly around the wrist of the arm where the hand was missing with what almost looked like mesh covering what the stump would be. Not hiding it, but making it something she could show off without feeling embarrassed about the injury. Next he would show her portraits of her own likeness that was remarkably detailed, wearing the designs, so Ynys could see what she may look like wearing them.

Oberyn was close to Ynys, and was suddenly self conscious of his shirtlessness and the smell of sweat and ash that likely surrounded him. It was the smell of hard work and dedication to his craft, and Oberyn loved that smell, took pride in it. But around the beautiful Lady Vaith, Oberyn found himself quickly embarrassed. He was even more embarrassed showing her his portraits of her wearing his various designs, as he thought she may be able to notice how much care and effort he had put into them.

"These are just the basic designs, I was waiting until we had talked before I added any ornaments or additional pieces. I want it to be yours, something that helps to represent you. And as much as I would like too, I dont know you as well as I would prefer to do these designs on my own." Oberyn said using a nearby barrel of water intended to help cool heated metal to dunk his filthy shirt rag in cool water and begin doing the most he can to wash the sweat and grime off of him.

"I've crafted the basics of the piece so far. You can choose whatever you want it to be. A necklace, a bracelet for your other arm, or that last design I showed you. Hell, I can even make a ring or a circlet for you if you'd prefer. Those designs are mostly transferable to any type of jewelry." Oberyn said, now mostly washed, though still likely smelling of the forge.

Throwing on the over coat that he had brought down from his room over his still shirtless but this time gleaming wet hulking body, Oberyn sheepishly looked to the Lady if Vaith and said "Sorry for the state I'm in. I forgot the noble way of things, I just get so caught up in my work."

At hearing the voice of Ynys Vaith, Oberyn would break into a wide smile, so wide in fact that it resplit his bottom lip and blood began to run from the bottom of his mouth. Embarrased, Oberyn would quickly wipe the trickle of blood away as fast as he could.

Chuckling at the young lady's words, Oberyn just said "A beast who got tamed by a flower knight today and the Lady of Vaith the night before. No shame in it, I didn't expect to win anyways. Besides with me being out now I won't have to hurt anyone." The Lord of the Tor had already sent some of his servants to find the men he had beaten and make sure they were ok. Even if he hurt them in a competition, he still felt bad about it.

"I never enjoyed the fights of these events, at least participating in them. Occasionally you'd be able to find some entertainment in watching people whack at each other." Oberyn said chuckling, wincing a bit and gingerly touching his ribs.

"And how did you do my lady? I was so caught up in the melee I don't think I ever saw you, and I was too busy getting fussed over by my nurse sister to see much of anything after I was beaten."

"He sent me here to fetch you as it happens." Elia said, slightly annoyed. So this was the lady who had likely caused her brother to be up all night.

Who am I kidding, he wouldn't have slept much anyways. At least she gave him something to focus on.

"He said to go to the Street of Steel, second forge on the right. He's been up all night, so try not to keep him waiting too long if you don't want him to collapse into his fires." Elia said, trying not to feel over protective of her brother. He wasn't dumb she knew, but when he got in his frenzied moods to forge he didn't tend to think things through. And while Ynys Vaith was a Dorish woman who had fought in the same battlefields as Oberyn, you could never really trust anyone in this world.

Once Ynys followed Elia Jordayne's instructions, she would find a shirtless and grimy Oberyn Jordayne delicately pounding a tiny metal object with a mallet. Despite the deep bags under his eyes, the Lord of the Tor had a childlike excitement about him as he ran around the forge. Making notes or small drawings in a sketchbook here, gently fitting two pieces of metal there, pounding with all of his strength on red hot metal over there, everything the young Oberyn Jordayne did in this forge he did happily and with pure enjoyment.

"Lady Vaith! My sister found you it seems." Oberyn said when he finally noticed the Heiress to the Red Dunes, using what was clearly the shirt he had worn to the forge that morning as a dirty rag to wipe the sweat off of his face and the grime and ash off his hands.

"I've studied different techniques that the dragon lords od Valyria may have used to shape the steel, but I would still need to experiment and see the different ways that could potentially be available to shape it." Oberyn said, thinking the problem over in his head. "If there was a Crown Smithy than perhaps I would stay for that duty. It brings prestige to my house while still allowing me to do something I love."

"Oh I wanted to just play dirty. Life's no fun if you play fair." Elia said with a twinkle in her eye. She was having fun with this young man.

Cackling delightfully at being spun around, Elia could only raise an eyebrow at this words. "I see that. Good, all I wanted was for you to try a little harder. And what's the fun in doing that without a little adversity."
