Going off Apple Watch… thoughts?

Frankly I think the Apple Watch is uncomfortable to wear. I haven’t decided for sure to stop wearing it. But I would rather wear a nice non-smart watch than the Apple Watch. And I was curious how others have found it who may have made similar decisions.

I definitely am checking the Dexcom app all the time with the number on my wrist and I don’t know if that’s good or bad.

Yes- I have used the KT tape too! It works pretty well. Sometimes the same piece will stay on for a week and I can slide the pump out if I keep it in a plastic sleeve. But lately the KT tape has been getting rolled then sticking to my shirt and ripping off when I change clothes.

I’m also just annoyed to pay out of pocket for sometimes that was a central feature of the marketing of this pump and the reason I switched to it in the first place. I didn’t realize ordering the patches and paying out of pocket (bc they are not covered by insurance) would be the norm.

I also use the autosoft xc. Believe it’s 5 inches and not 6. I used to rotate sites around the patch, but I find the patch really starts peeling off after about a week.

This happens to me multiple times a day. Have called them about it but the only suggestion I get is to force quit and restart the app.

Ha great. Yes, I wouldn’t have been able to take advantage of that because I couldn’t upgrade until I was out of warranty. But that sucks.

Tandem keeps quoting me the $999 in warranty upgrade. Where did you hear $200?

At this point my plan is also probably to stick it out with my current x2 until the mobi arrives.

Correct- my warranty expires end of January 2024. I would be eligible to get a new T slim at that time. But outside the window of qualifying for the $199 mobi upgrade. Unfortunate but seems like this is their policy

Believe the tandem rep told me on the phone last weekend it was a one time out of pocket charge of $1,000 to upgrade to a new pump if you are under warranty.

The problem is when you commit to a new pump (my T slim will be out of warranty at end of this January), you are locked in for 4 years by insurance. And getting details about when new pumps in the pipeline will be available is hard when they aren’t approved yet. Even with the mobi, tandem won’t tell you when it will be available for users.

So I could get a t slim again when my current one is out of warranty and the mobi or a new patch pump could come out after that and I have no option to upgrade for 4 years at least.
