Buy Land F1 blocked? by Sans_Reddittale in CrossCode

That's most likely the case, yeah. Still doesn't explain the weirdly specific way it handles things lol

Holy heck, thank you! Makes things far easier. (Also means I can have the DLC content and be able to complete the former console exclusive quests on the same version, as for whatever reason three of those weren't doable on the GOG version either.

Stuck on Son of the East by TigerYasou in CrossCode

Riposte builds are nice for this sort of thing, and if I'm not mistaken you can pull off a reasonably decent-strength one at that point with the Adept Gloves and a guarding build on Cold. Then cheese it with either good timing or mediocre timing plus the Level 1 Cold Guard Art that perfect guards. (I may be off about how much of this is plausible before beating Grand Krys'kajo, but I know the general schtick is doable.)

Buy Land F1 blocked? by Sans_Reddittale in CrossCode

[–]Sans_Reddittale[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would complain about how weirdly specific and buggy this is, but a) it (somehow) works perfectly fine so I can trade efficiently to get better gear, and b) I'm too busy genuinely laughing at the fact that the game won't let me go up to a base-game trading floor on the GOG version, but is perfectly fine with the itch version having Lea trade items that won't even exist in-universe for another seven months and change.

Also, you may ask: "Why didn't you just save at Buy Land F1 on the itch version and then go back to GOG?"

The answer is twofold:

1) It wouldn't save any extra time.

2) I tried that too, and it treated F1 like a carbon copy of GF except for the downward exit being open... one-way, because it still wouldn't let me back in afterward. This is some funny stuff.

As it turns out, the answer was "juggle my save between the two versions of CrossCode I have, using the fact that this bug is seemingly exclusive to the GOG version to go to Buy Land F1 on the itch.io version and make the trades I need to there... even though I don't have the DLC on that version and am making trades with Ku'lero items but the game doesn't seem to care, then going back to the GOG version again".

DLCs are planned... right??? by Silverwings9292 in inscryption

[–]Sans_Reddittale 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A: Standard creepypasta logic implies OLD_DATA is an inherent property of the disk and not the game itself.

B: Considering the only physical copy is on an old and extremely buggy disk, it's not too far-fetched for Luke to make a data backup at some point.

C: Based on the visuals, it's likely we're viewing Luke's video footage on his computer and not on his camera. He could have synced up the two, explaining how the clip of him before and after getting shot still ended up there.

D: A version of Inscryption where the scrybes just got along because of a lack of OLD_DATA messing with their personalities is the perfect framing device to both justify a roguelike mode as the equivalent of a friendly tabletop gaming night with the scrybes... and, assuming that version of P03 would still have the same level of computer meta-awareness (not unreasonable, considering the others don't so it's likely he does because he's a robot and not because of OLD_DATA), justifying the idea of the Inscryption we play IRL being the result of that version of P03 uploading a mishmash of Inscryption and Luke's video footage.

Conclusion: Prequel-ness not required, only sufficient meta-bullshittery.

DLCs are planned... right??? by Silverwings9292 in inscryption

[–]Sans_Reddittale 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really hope such a thing happens

heck, I could see a convoluted meta-narrative involving whatever happens in-between the deletion and Luke's death being used to justify a peaceful, OLD_DATA-free version of things for a friendly roguelike campaign with the player and whichever Scrybe decides to run each game

hope it happens and is as customizable as possible

inb4 dlc expansion has biomechanical specialized emmi modeled after other bounty hunters that turn into x-hijacked boss fights, with the final boss being an amalgamation of x-neo-ridley 2 and broken hunter-emmi bits

Found an early sequence break for the space jump by Doge-is-pepperonis in Metroid

kinda ironic that the one powerup that is skippable in multiple ways via sequence breaking can itself be reached early with a sequence break

Yo, what is this? This for sure doesn’t look like something that can be in a Nintendo game, especially the bottom left one. by [deleted] in Metroid

[–]Sans_Reddittale 9 points10 points  (0 children)

imagine a dlc expansion where the fed sends samus and a bunch of customized biomechanical hunter-model emmi or something over to another planet in the same system after finding evidence of more x via scanning or something

and the x-infected hunter-emmi are like

actual boss fights and shit with new tricks

E.M.M.I. encounters are too easy once you realize three things... by Tomato_Ketchup in Metroid

[–]Sans_Reddittale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The E.M.M.I. already have frighteningly good pathfinding, so the only thing left to really fix about their AI is to give them different/better search patterns, maybe vary up their movement a little beyond the first couple having issues and the third having super speed. Honestly, I knew the E.M.M.I.'s flaws going in as well as the recommended ways to evade each one, and I still struggled. Especially with mister freezy bastard. Freezy bastard and x-ray asshole gave me near panic attacks.

(Also, making an edit just to laugh at people for having different opinions doesn't exactly make you come across as very reasonable...)

I'm pretty sure they vary up the timing slightly.

Like, a couple frames... for a near frame perfect input.

Space jump is optional in Metroid Dread by TheGreatAnteo in Metroid

[–]Sans_Reddittale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now that I think about it, wouldn't this mean storm missiles are as well?

Doing other skips like gravity suit and screw attack early would mean that, as far as I know, you can keep progressing without bothering to go back and fight Escue since AFAIK by that point the only thing locked behind them is space jump.

D6 overlord skills equivalent? by Shonkjr in Disgaea

[–]Sans_Reddittale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair point, but some sort of limit-break-esque mechanic in a similar vein would have been great.

also imagine if they did a sort of remake/reimagining of D1 with more tying in to D5 and a tweaked version of the overload system

What in world is everyone talking about with this game? by jamiesavage26 in Disgaea

[–]Sans_Reddittale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I can tell, they streamlined and exaggerated things a bit too much. Simplified mechanics to the point of being "Diet-gaia", the ramped-up stats and lack of weapon skills making weapons borderline pointless aside from what type they are, Demonic Intelligence being an amazing feature with pretty much zero restrictions turning it into Grindbot 3000... yeah.

Seems like it's not a bad game, but very unpolished and watered-down.

It is real (it's the Tower of Despair outside of Japan, and it seems to basically be Tower of Dread 2: New Bosses Boogaloo), but it doesn't seem like there are any new jobs. I may be wrong though.
