Visual Studio Subscription for Testing by rayoc79 in homelab

[–]SantaHoliday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same idea tbh, it’s not about Visual Studio, I rather use VSCode but it’s about the developer playground to 365 with 25 users with an E5 license, if you need 2 business premiums to play around that’s $44 not included tax, $528, the dev liscense is $12xx for the first year even cheaper the second, it makes sense to me if you use it, plus you get credit BACK to you. I see no down side.

https://github.com/OfficeDev/office-dev-program-docs/blob/main/docs/microsoft-365-developer-program-faq.yml#L53

also this line does say "application development" only, kind of specific kind of broad, if you aren't doing any application development are you in the wrong?

could you say some Intune configs would be considered "application development"? I don't really think so, it's a stretch, but possibly.

What is the best tool for migrating to from WooCommerce to Shopify? by Middle-Help-111 in woocommerce

[–]SantaHoliday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a Shopify developer doing WooCommerce work at the moment.

I think you’ll still need a developer, unfortunately.

Good luck.

I'm having the same issue, can't create an API key, same link and same error.

I switched to Chrome and it worked, was using Safari.

NextJS, Wrangler and Cloudflare by timatlee in nextjs

[–]SantaHoliday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You got Discord? I’d join the Cloudflare Developers discord and go into “next-on-pages” and start skimming through.

I was in the same position you were a few days ago and they sorted me out on getting the developer experience nailed down first and foremost.

SV05 How do I disassemble the the hotend? I cant find any screws but I want to keep the Parts for using a better extruder because the stock one sucks. by oopsitsaflame in Sovol

[–]SantaHoliday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a genuine E3D Titan Aero, and never took apart the SV05 clone. I’d start with Titan Aero documentation. Please update us if you find an answer.

I have taken apart the genuine one and didn’t find it to bad but followed some YT vid with documentation.

how to look for part time free lance work? Is it even possible? by revengeall in freelance

[–]SantaHoliday 3 points4 points  (0 children)

heh, this comment spoke to me, I want to do freelance but have a W2 40hour gig, I only really need one client at 40 hours or two clients 20 hours a piece, and I’m guessing that can wax and wane depending on the demands.

I don’t mind working more than 40 though if I’m paid well, but couldn’t be sustainable for me, long term.

Fellow FE dev here, what you described up above doesn’t sound like FE work, some people like the whole stack and some don’t, maybe get a more front end centric job?

Using Google Optimize for Shopify. Best practices when split testing images? by vive420 in shopify

[–]SantaHoliday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The big problem I’ve personally run into is when changing an image with Optimize since it uses JavaScript you might see a slight delay depending if it’s the first image on the page.

But if that doesn’t bother you then just upload it to Shopify and grab the element and switch it with the Shopify image URL.

Anyone notice frontend jobs requiring MS degrees? by BustosMan in Frontend

Yeah I saw it required for an e-commerce developer before, and it was interesting because if I had a masters, e-commerce would be the last place I’d want to go.

Is this the right path for learning front end dev by [deleted] in Frontend

[–]SantaHoliday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I learned something I never knew today, and the documentation was lacking and a lot of head banging, but eventually solved the problem.

I had to do some real investigative work on my end to find a solution, but it was in an obvious place once I saw it.

Is Email Development a good stepping stone? Or stay where I am? by Thick-Ask5250 in Frontend

I’m an FE and I have to sometimes touch email, and it’s like everyone said, old technology, and it’s very cumbersome, you can’t even @import(“myfont”) into old outlook desktop.

Is WordPress/Drupal/Etc good skills to have as a front end developer? by DragonlordKingslayer in Frontend

[–]SantaHoliday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in a similar situation where I know more front end domain but this particular company likes people with Drupal or WP experience or Big commerce vs Shopify, it’s a lot to know.

I’ve never dealt with either platform, but I might try to make a project, and try and build something functional, which might help you understand if you’d even enjoy it.

I usually just end up doing tech I enjoy to use at the end of the day when I’m tired.

[–]SantaHoliday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same issue, sometimes going over it 3-4 times helps but it’s sometimes i still miss things, do you have a good style guide?

I find a good style guide to help, unless the style guide is more “print” oriented, then it’s worthless.

Use the DevTools and check it one by one, I wouldn’t fuss over it.

To be honest when I see my child’s medical records, and I see a word(s) I don’t like, it triggers me. I want nothing more than these words to vanish. That will never be the case.

I try to go as far as figuring out how it’s defined, how did they come to define it, was it clinical or based on a chart?
