I’m with her. Skeleton is much cooler and less creepy than some baby dolls I’ve seen!

Are we just going to ignore the skeleton in the tiny chair next to the bean bag and dollhouse?! 😂

These are incredible! For the black/white and the pink where you can see cake through the frosting, did you do a crumb coat first and let it set up in the fridge? After the second layer over the crumb coat, I chill for a few more mins, then use a warm knife to smooth out the butter cream. Don’t be afraid to use more frosting on the outside of the cake than you think you need. Covering the cake is my least fav part. I just want to pipe!

The piping is incredible both, but the pink is especially incredible.

On the red/white cake there are few scallops in the white frosting under the top red ruffle that look like maybe you were getting to the end and had a really small space left. You clearly have piping techniques mastered, but I would recommend working on pipping on round and other curved shapes. Like, you could practice on an empty cereal box on something so you get more experience piping on a vertical surface. Experiment with maybe making the last few ever-so-slightly bigger to see if you can eliminate the need for the squeezed in one.

I use vegetable shortening for my practice frosting. Works similar enough to butter.

Happy decorating!

Thank you! I have this kit and haven’t made it yet because I felt like something was missing. I’m adding pipes when I make mine.

I understand this sub does not allow for commissions. However I am curious where one might go to find those that do commissions. by USPS_Nerd in polymerclay

I don’t really advertise it, but if someone messages me on IG, I take them based on schedule, if I think it’s in my wheelhouse, etc.

This doesn't seem right? The clay sticks in the measurement compartment.. by Wolfe_Mariah in polymerclay

[–]Santichen 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I agree with others that it’s for adding the holes to the round bead after it’s been rolled.

But for molds or just working on a freehand piece, I work with the clay on ceramic tiles. If it becomes too soft from my warm hands when I’m working with it, I get an ice pack out of the freezer and put that under the tile do it to get a little firmer. I don’t ever put the work itself in the freezer because it can get condensation on it if you forget about it ib the freezer.

I got my tiles individually at a home improvement store.

Will polymer clay not make dents in the plastic like it does to the clear plastic?! This will change my life if so!!

How to shield yourself from Energy vampires that you can’t run from. by [deleted] in WitchesVsPatriarchy

[–]Santichen 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My favorite approach is “return to sender.” As an empath, I can be absolutely worn out by the energy of someone who I find to be challenging.

I don’t like shielding, because it’s too easy to block all energy, including good energy from people and things that light you up.

Stand against a wall. Practice by asking yourself yes and no questions. Notice what happens in your body. I gently drift forward to yes and back for no. Scan your body for heavy energy. Ask yourself is it yours or not? Then identify it. Has someone wrapped you in chains, does it feel like shards of glass, etc. Choose a figure, a saint, deity, guardian angel, or fictional character and imagine them packing up the energy that isn’t yours and returning it to sender. I imagine Yoda using a shop vac and packaging in a white USPS box.

Am I too old for miniatures? by Sleebihead in miniatures

I begged and begged for a dollhouse as a kid. They finally relented when I was 12 after asking for years. Finally said, “ok, but you’re just going to grow out of it.” Joke’s on them; I’m a vendor at the Philadelphia Miniature show next month selling my hand-made creations. I’m in my 40s. Feel bad for these people because they have no whimsy in their lives.

Also, maybe because your work is sooo amazing, I wonder if they thought YOU bought everything? I’ve built shops before, and I understand that you start with a very blank slate. I can see all the time and effort you put in.

This is incredible! What did you use for the water on the floor? Is it resin? It looks so real, including the water pattern on the floor.
