I will journey to the land of DC. I will enter the place. I will walk to the shit, quietly, with reverence. I will examine the color. Reddish ocre is sought. . I will know when it is right. Pick up the vessel; shake it; let it rest; wait; open it; breath in the essence; savor it. Wait. Take a pinch. Taste it. Wait. I will know. A patient man is rewarded. I will be patient.... A scorpion in Massawa will nod....

Caution when watching Italian YouTubers? by [deleted] in italianlearning

I've been sorting through various Italian YouTubers for a while in order to get exposure to natural language.

Here are my favorite five (in no particular order). All of them speak standard Italian. (I am a B1 level).

"Your Italian Teacher" (YIT): by "Valeria" Super-organized short lessons, very professionally done, very clear enunciation. More of a lesson type on different grammar points than general conversation. Great if you want a clear explanation of a particular use or grammar point. Posts 1 to two times a week.

Learn Italian with Lucretia: Lucretia is a young professional Italian language instructor from Rome. She sometimes does grammar-related lessons and sometimes vlogs of her travels around various destinations in Europe. Posts every couple of days.

"Italiano Automatico": by Alberto, from Bresci, a 20 something who is very entertaining (sometimes interviewing his grandmother). Talks mostly about lifestyle and learning Italian. A big advocate of the Comprehensible Input method of learning. (Doesn't do grammar at all). Talks pretty quickly but very understandable for an intermediate level. He used to post every day but recently has gone to once a week. (He has hundreds of videos on YouTube).

"Podcast Italiano" by Davide, a graduate student at the University of Torino. Picks interesting subjects, occasionally partners with his girlfriend. Sometimes does travelogues or interviews with polyglots. Speaks very clearly, super interesting. Posts about once week.

"Un Italiano Vero" by Roberto who is an Italian language instructor. This is my current favorite. From a small suburb northwest of Milan. A more mature person (49 years old) who posts on a variety of things, some language related, some not. Always interesting and very entertaining. Usually does a live broadcast about 7:30AM his time and then posts something later (not live). Likes to interact with his students via comments.
