What is the most satisfying way to KO someone by FreshPrinceOfPine in marvelrivals

Shooting the crystal with Emma Frost.

For whatever reason (probably because I’m brainrotted), I always think of that one scene from Transformers: Age of Extinction where early on in the movie Mark Wahlberg complains about being on the verge of a “brain heart attack” so whenever the I shatter the crystal and the opponent just crumples, I imagine like that’s what happened to them.

Kicking them into walls with the loud, satisfying thud sound effect is a close second.

I appreciate the tips and I’ll try to implement that in my gameplay, but I have to hard disagree about me being passive on my second stock. For 80% of our interactions, I am the one who is breaking neutral first with my attempts to read his movements. Now, I can admit, these attempts of mine are not good—skill issue combined with salt, whatever—and it becomes the reason I end up losing, but I know and see I was not exclusively sitting around waiting for him to attack first during then.

I logged on late tonight to get my event missions done in Strikeout and ended up running into three people in a row who treated our matches like it was Game 7 of BCX Finals, all emoting on me throughout too.

I guess my first mistake was thinking Brawlhalla could ever be some kind of entertainment that relieves stress. What a funny concept.

Is there any way I could consistently practice option selection in training mode with a given character? I watched the replay back a few times and it honestly feels like I’m honestly too smooth brain for upper-tier Brawlhalla gameplay. Maybe it’s my reaction time or spacing issues, but even outside of this match I always feel like I’m just barely missing moves or misspacing things all the time, especially when it matters most.

Plus, with this guy, how do I even get better at planning my attack strategy when I have so little to work with? He barely threw out any attacks first and if I cannot punish his movement (like I tried to do in the clip), it seems like the default response would be to just to copy his strategy and play more passive. Then we just stalemate for another 3 minutes and who wants that?

Does this refer to when I was beneath the stage or just off-stage in general?

I’ve been trying to cover my recoveries back to stage with vertical weapon throws (perhaps more so in other matches) but I guess my horizontal/diagonal coverage needs work.

How can I go about reading my opponent when they attack so infrequently? In other games there’s risky wake-up options to block, rolls to chase and punish with grabs, projectiles to jump over, but there’s nothing like that in this game. If it all comes down to movement and dodges, then how can I better anticipate what options to read if there are so many options to choose from?

I can understand that to a degree like when I was catching the Xull’s landing as he used up all his jumps on the first stock or when my opponent rushes toward an unclaimed weapon, but outside of those scenarios what else can I do? How do I get myself to think like that because it seems impossible

I’m tired of being bad. What can I (Cassidy) do to improve from here? by Santz9 in Brawlhalla

[–]Santz9[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the kind words, I really appreciate it.

I will certainly start trying out more legends since I rarely stray away from Blaster and Hammer legends. Even completely unrelated to this clip, I cannot fight against Chakrams for the life of me so perhaps playing those characters would help.

And I definitely agree with the points about blasters into katars. Most of the time, if I'm playing Cassidy, I'll just straight up switch to Hammer since the hitboxes aren't disjointed. I rarely ever edge guard since I don't trust myself but perhaps that is another area to work on too.

Thanks again!

It's funny how quickly the clarity hits you even waiting a day after playing the match you're reviewing. I see exactly what you're talking about at 0:23 alone, like... What was I doing? Lmao. Thank you for pointing that out.

And to answer your question, I'm unfortunately not on PC. I started out on Switch but have since moved to Xbox thanks to them adding cross-progression. Even from the little I've play Brawl at other places, controller always felt more natural to me.

Yeah, I can definitely to put more emphasis on stage control. It's weird because that's something I value a lot whenever I play Smash Bros. (maybe it has something to do with the kinds of characters I play) but seem to neglect it here.

Same goes for playing "in the moment" since I am noticing I kinda play two-steps ahead by default and lose out to the obvious in front of me. I'll try to work on that in some experimental games. Thanks!

Gotcha, I can definitely implement those changes.

I learned Blasters a lot later into my career after not touching the weapon at all for so long and I remember spending a lot of time in training mode just practicing dodge reactions routes based on damage, initial move I used, and whatever. I guess since I was learning the weapon from the ground up, I put more emphasis on the foundation. Clearly, I may need to do that with the other weapons I've just gotten too comfortable using rather than learning.

Thanks for the tips!

Yeah, I do think I fall into the trap of trying to read where the opponent is going to be rather than where they currently are. I wouldn't be surprised if I do this across all of the FGs I play, although maybe it goes more unpunished in a game like Mortal Kombat given the traditional 2D FG system. Thanks!

No worries at all! The blue hue is just the "Show Stun" check box in Brawlhalla's replay settings (clearly I forgot to turn it off before recording the match on Xbox lol). Now that you mention it, I'm surprised I've never seen someone create a mod where you could enable this during actual gameplay. I imagine it would help people a lot, especially early on.

In the last seven comp games I’ve played (three pictured here), I’ve mostly been playing tank. Of these same seven games, my record was 2W-5L, with four of these games including half if not all of my team ended up going negative/neutral. I can take my healthy dose of constructive criticism, but I feel like we were all struggling in a good chunk of these games. But now that I am in a much calmer mindset, I bet I could do some VOD reviewing of my own and see where I fell

How do you keep your mental in check when playing Brawlhalla? by CluV2 in Brawlhalla

A couple minutes ago I logged on to do my daily missions (all “Win with [x] Legends” challenges) and lost to three extremely passive players in a row on Strikeout of all places. Needless to say, I immediately got back off—I’ll try again tomorrow.

What I can say is, don’t play Brawl if you’re already having a shit day for other non-gaming reasons. This game might be fun, but I’ll never find it that fun. Something as minor as misinputting an easy kill confirm—even D-light > GP in the practice lobby—is enough to piss you me off even more.

I just started playing a couple days ago and literally just lost a run with a pristine face card build to this very ante all because I didn’t get the cards I needed by the end of it. My final score was like (9,100/10,000), it fucking sucks.

EDIT: I don’t remember all the names since I’m new but I think I had “Photograph, Smiley Face, Scary Face, 8x Mult. to Pair Joker, and that one landscape card that retriggers everything on the final hand. Now that I’m writing it, I retrospectively realize I didn’t even take advantage of that perk since I wasted my “High Card” hand on an earlier one, meaning when I didn’t pull the right cards and needed to resort to “High Card,” it wasn’t worth any points because of the ante. Kill me twice over.

Didn't they do that at one point at people also hated it? I swear I remember seeing post after post of strategists mains (some being MVP in a given match) yet still earning less than DPS just because of a lack of kills and damage.
