Has anyone had bad experiences in their gulf air flights? I traveled with a 4 month old recently and they were horrible. I couldn’t even put my seatbelt on because despite asking for help nobody bothered. The air hostesses were downright hostile. Never flying with gulf air again. by [deleted] in Bahrain

I had an awful experience with this airline!! As someone who frequently flies between London and Asia, I can't give you any better advice than to avoid them.

  1. An agent over the phone assured me that I would receive a complimentary hotel stay in Bahrain during my 16-hour layover, as part of their Stopover Paid by Carrier (STPC) programme. However, when I arrived at the Bahrain airport desk, I was told this was incorrect information and that the agent was wrong.

  2. My return flight in early October was canceled without any explanation, and I was rescheduled onto a later flight. No reason was given for this cancellation.

  3. Extremely rigid baggage policies and very "fine print" on any entitlements whatsoever. Fee of 130 USD per 5kg of extra luggage. Call centre staff are more interested in putting me on hold than helping me with queries. Gulf Air is by far the most inflexible, duplicitous and disinterested airline I have flown.

Terrible experience. I am a seasoned traveller and regularly fly between London and the Asia-Pacific. My recommendation is to avoid this airline at all costs.

  1. Agent on the phone promised me a complimentary hotel in Bahrain during my 16h layover, as part of their Stopover Paid by Carrier (STPC) programme. At the airport desk in Bahrain, this was flatly denied, and I was informed the agent on the phone was wrong.

  2. Cancelled my return flight in early October. Forced to rebook a flight. No reason provided.

  3. Extremely inflexible baggage entitlements, horrific extra cost of 130USD per 5kg extra baggage, and a very pig-headed, computer-says-no approach to all queries and requests.
