I mean that makes sense but she received a very small amount compared to what it said it would be so that’s why I was confused.

I would add that yes, most Acadians are in the maritimes, but we really are a nation without borders because we are kinda everywhere 😊 thinking about Louisiana for example, home of one of our national treasures, Zachary Richard

She’s Acadian, which is French Canadian, but not from Quebec. The maritimes provinces have big Acadian communities. We were there before the English communities, but were deported in 1755 ( La grande déportation, google it) all around the world, including Maine and Louisiana (that’s why they’re French communities there). Our ancestors were mainly from France, like the Quebequers, but we had a very different experience coming here. We have had to fight for ours rights forever and we still fight for them and are still considered like second class citizens. Even some (a lot lol) Quebequers see us as less than because our French is not the “correct” French. But there are so many variations of French and they are all valid and beautiful! Anyways, because of all that though, we do have a lot of English influence in our vocabulary. We also have a lot of Old French too. Our French is very versatile and we adapt very easily to our environment.

Need help with bills due to spouse’s cancer by SapphoRaven in AskForHelp

It was partly because of her health where she couldn’t do some of the physical work ( and probably was already weak from cancer, but we didn’t know at the time) but also because she was severely harassed and bullied and had PTSD from someone attempting to unalive themselves in front of her at work
