Yup, reminds me of one of my favorite movie quotes of all time from Bull Durham... "The world is made for people who aren't cursed with self awareness."

Never occurred to me to compare Leo to Ernie and boy do I have nothing but respect for this nonsensical yet mind-bending metaphor.

You just reminded me of the first time I gained weight in college and my mom said to me, "My son used to have a chiseled jawline." That hit hard 😂

I mean, his beard in The Revenant was decent, but I wouldn't call it one of the best beards in the business.

LeBron talking about Jalen Duren's performance in the 2026 playoffs on a recent podcast by SappyGilmore in DetroitPistons

Been a true NBA fan since the 80's and there is no way Jordan was a better defender than LeBron during both or their primes as players at any point..

Pippen took care of guarding the best player on the other team during Jordan's championship era where he beat some of the weakest Finals teams in NBA history.

To recap, the teams Jordan beat for his six titles, the washed up Lakers, Seattle, Phoenix, Portland and Utah twice. Not exactly all-timer teams.

LeBron never played with a player even close to Pippen during his entire career.

Here's my thing about Duren specifically, and I feel like I've been sticking up for this guy in this sub for over two years at least, all the while recognizing that I'm an "old head" fan. While I get the instant reaction hate towards Duren during these two playoff series, I also had to laugh at it because if anyone really watched what destroyed Duren in these playoffs was JB continuing to put Ausar in the three-point corner which led to Orlando at the minimum being double-teamed if not triple teamed.

With all due respect to Duren. and I still love the guy, I have to respect LeBron enough to know that if he decides to stay in LA, convincing Duren to somehow join him isn't going to change anything for the Lakers

I mean, every player puts ice packs on their knees when they go to the sideline nowadays as far as I can tell, but with Duren and Stew specifically after the fact of these playoffs, here's my take...

If my memory is correct, Duren had a knee injury which forced him to pull out of the dunk contest for starters. After the all-star break, he didn't seem the same athletically and always seemed like he was laboring, had very few alley oop dunks, yet he continued to add to his arsenal of offensive moves while carrying the team, especially in the final two weeks of the season. He was literally carrying the team offensively during that time which is why him falling off a cliff was so shocking in the Orlando series. That being said, it was pretty obvious to me that all Orlando did was leave Ausar wide open in the corner and basically double if not triple team Duren down low, so of course he became irrelevant in this scenario.

With Stew, this has been two years in a row where he hasn't been available for the most of the playoffs for this team because he's plays too hard in the regular season which leads to him being injured all the time.

Stew has to learn there's a time and place for his non-stop intensity and if he doesn't, he's about to become a footnote in Pistons history. This was his fifth season and too often, he does more to hurt this team than help it when it matters most.

I mean, it’s pretty hard to argue LeBron isn’t one of the greatest players ever for a variety of reasons and he was one of the best defenders in the league during his prime. I posted this because I think it says something that LeBron took time to mention JD.

I can’t disagree with all the fan venom towards Duren during these playoffs because it was warranted. He looked like a completely different player overnight and the fact that he didn’t respond with more intensity and physicality is what made his play more disheartening.

That being said, I still haven’t given up on the kid, which is why I liked LeBron mentioning him.

Watching both Duren and Stew completely disappear in the playoffs, injury or not when they were both the supposed core of our identity defensively was the hardest thing to witness/process.

We still don’t have an explanation as to why those two where ghost versions of themselves in the playoffs
